• <br /> (c ) Oil storage and supply tanks , holding oil for use <br /> in oil burners or oil burning equipment , shell contain only that <br /> type of oil for the combustion of which that type of oil burner <br /> or oil burning equipment is designed by the manufacturer and is <br /> approved by the Fire Chief of the City of Everett. <br /> (d) No oil company or distributor, or agent of oil <br /> company or distributor•, shall place any oil in any storage or supp y <br /> tank, to be used in any oil burner or oil burning equipment, other <br /> than that type of oil for the combustion of which that type of oil <br /> burner or oil burning equipment is designed by the manufacturer an' <br /> is approved by the Fire Chief of the City of Everett. <br /> (e) Except when installed in one and two family <br /> residences, it shall be the duty of the person in charge of every <br /> oil burner, used to heat air or water, to inspect the oil. <br /> burner while same is in operation, and the fire box in which <br /> installed, at least twice in each twenty-four (24) hour period. <br /> (f) Complete legible instructions for correctly <br /> operating and maintaining oil burning equipment shall be posted <br /> at all times in the room containing the oil burner, with the <br /> principal directions for proper operation and maintenance shown <br /> in bold face type in concise non-technical terms . These <br /> instruction sheets shall be subject to the approval of the Fire <br /> Chief and shall include instructions for proving the correct <br /> operation of all important parts while in service . <br /> (g) It shall be the duty of the person in charge of <br /> every oil burner installed in any building, to inspect and <br /> maintain the equipment for proper operation free from unnecessary <br /> fire hazard or other dangerous conditions and to have necessary <br /> adjustments mcde by a competent person, and no other duties shall <br /> interfere with such attention as often as required by the nature <br /> of the installation and the working conditions. <br /> (h) It shall be the duty of the person in charge of <br /> every oil burner installed in any building, to allow no accumula- <br /> tion of leakage of oil in the furnace pit or in the fire box or <br /> on the basement or boiler room floor; to keep the nozzle of the <br /> oil burner clean and free from carbon and dirt ; to keep the <br /> fire box free from excessive deposits of carbon; to keep oil <br /> piping through which oil is delivered from the oil storage tank <br /> to the burner absolutely tight , and free from oil leaks; to keep <br /> all packing glands of the oil pumping apparatus tight and free <br /> from oil leaks and to keep the oil burner in proper working order <br /> at all times. In case carbon deposit shall form within Two (2) <br /> feet of the nozzle of the oil aurner, such carbon deposit shall <br /> be immediately removed and the cause thereof corrected. <br /> (i ) It shall be unlawful to use or cause to be used <br /> any oil burning equipment that has become unsafe , or is in <br /> imminent danger of becoming so. <br /> -11- <br />
