• <br /> heatingdevice ; PEO1TIDED, that gravity oil tanks of a capacity <br /> not in excess of Twelve (12) gallons mounted on the back of an <br /> oil circulating heater or range as provided by the manufacturer <br /> as an integral part of such heater or range, shall be permitted <br /> subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. No gravity oil tank <br /> shall be located more than Thirty-six (36) inches above the oil <br /> burner to which it is connected. <br /> (h) Gravity oil tanks shall be securely fastened in <br /> place on a strongly constructed stand adequately secured against <br /> overturning. Such tanks installed inside buildings shall be <br /> mounted on a stand constructed of timbers not less than 4" x 4" , <br /> or on a metal stand. <br /> (i ) Gravity oil tanks of a capacity exceeding Three (3) <br /> gallons shall be constructed of galvanized steel or of open hearth <br /> steel or wrought iron painted on the outside with a good grade <br /> asphaltum paint . Tanks of a capacity exceeding Three (3) gallons, <br /> but not exceeding Sixty (60)gallons shall be of metal not less <br /> than No. 18 U. S. Standard Gauge in thickness. Tanks exceeding <br /> Sixty (60) gallons , but not exceeding Two Hundred Fifty (250) <br /> gallons capacity, shall be of metal not less than No. 16 U. S. <br /> Standard Gauge in thickness. <br /> Underground storage tanks exceeding Two Hundred Fifty <br /> (250) gallons , but not exceeding Two Hundred Ninety-four (294) <br /> gallons capacity, shall be of metal not less than No. 12 U. S. <br /> Standard Gauge in thickness and weigh approximately Two Hundred <br /> Ninety (290) pounds. Tanks exceeding Two Hundred Ninety-four <br /> ( 294) gallons, but not exceeding Five Hundred ( 500 ) gallons <br /> capacity shall be of metal not less than No. lP P. s . Standard <br /> Gauge and weigh approximately Four hundred Fifteen (415) pounds. <br /> Tanks exceeding Five Hundred ( 500) gallons shall be of 3/16 inch <br /> metal and weigh according to the following table : <br /> Nominal Capacity pproximate <br /> Gallons v.'eight <br /> 672 950 pounds <br /> 840 1100 pounds <br /> 1000 1300 pounds <br /> L written statement must be attached to each tank stating <br /> clearly the capacity, thickness and weight. Said statement <br /> shall be clipped to Inspection Permit before tank is covered. <br /> ( j ) No glass bottle oil container and no oil supply <br /> tank of the vacuum feed type shall have a capacity in excess of <br /> Three (3) gallons . <br /> (k) Every gravity oil burner shall be provided <br /> with an automatic safeguard to prevent flooding of the burner, <br /> which may be a trip bucket or a proper arrangement of the <br /> burner equipment to maintain a constant or fixed level of oil <br /> to prevent abnormal discharge of oil. <br /> -5- <br />
