(1) No gravity oil tank or container shall be provided <br /> with an oil level gauge which leaks or is likely to leak. Glass <br /> gauges , except as permitted for glass bottle oil containers are <br /> prohibited. <br /> (m) No damper which may entirely close the chimney <br /> uptake shall be installed or used in any smokepipe between a <br /> gravity oil burner and the chimney and the air regulating <br /> device on the front of the stove , range , furnace or other heating <br /> device shall be permanently fastened in the open position. <br /> (n) Standard full weight wrought iron or steel pipe <br /> not less than one-fourth inch inside diameter, or brass or <br /> copper tubing not less than five-sixteenths inch outside diameter <br /> with a wall thickness not less than .049 inch for small sizes <br /> and correspondingly heavier where necessary, shall be used for <br /> oil supply lines. All piping and tubing shall be tightly put <br /> together with due allowance for expansion, contraction, jarring <br /> and vibration and where necessary, protected against mechanical <br /> injury. <br /> ( o) Gravity oil burning equipment shall comply with <br /> the requirements of this ordinance relating to oil burners <br /> to which oil fuel is delivered to the burner by pumping, insofar <br /> as the same are practicable and do not conflict with the re- <br /> quirements of this section. <br /> (p) No person, firm or corporation shell install or <br /> cause to be installed any floor furrece or heater supported <br /> wholly or in part by suspension from floors or joists, without <br /> providing a suitable aisle of at least Two (2) feet width and <br /> Five ( 5) feet depth. Depth to be measured from bottom <br /> of floor joists. There shall be a Two (2) foot clearance <br /> all around furnace or heater, except where smoke pipe crosses <br /> to chimney from said furnace or heater. <br /> Section 6: Nothing in the foregoing provisions <br /> relating to gravity oil burners shall be construed as prohibit- <br /> ing the sale , installation or use of oil burning stoves as herein <br /> before defined ; PROVIDED, such stoves shall comply with the <br /> following requirements: <br /> (a) Only such oil burning stoves as have been inspecte• <br /> and approved by the Fire Chief, as elsewhere herein provided, <br /> shall be offered for sale, installed or used within the City of <br /> Everett. <br /> (b) The Fire Chief may reject or disapprove any oil <br /> burning stove which is not provided with adequate safeguards <br /> against fire or explosion or which, in his judgment, is other- <br /> wise unsafe for use within the City of Everett. <br /> -6- <br />
