(c) The recommendations and regulations pertaining to <br /> oil burning stoves, as provided, from time to time , by the <br /> National board of 'ire Underwriters, and the standards of con- <br /> struction as promulgated by Underwriters ' Laboratories or by <br /> any other organization of equivalent standing, properly equipped <br /> and qualified 'ior experimental testing, may be accepted by the <br /> Fire Chief as prima facie evidence that any oil burning stove <br /> complying with such regulations is safe for use within the City <br /> of Everett , and the Fire Chief may, in his discretion, permit <br /> the sale and use of any such oil burning stove, subject to the <br /> special provisions herein provided. <br /> (d) The oil reservoir supplying oil to the burner in <br /> oil burning stoves shall have a capacity not exceeding Twelve <br /> (1? ) gallons. Oil reservoirs shall be substantially constructed <br /> of metal and shall be firmly supported and secured against over- <br /> turning. No such oil reservoir shall be located more than <br /> Thirty-six (36) inches above the level of the oil burner to which <br /> it is connected. <br /> (e ) No glass bottle oil supply container or gravity <br /> tank of the vacuum feed type shall have a capacity in excess of <br /> Three (3) gallons , nor shall more than Two (2) such oil con- <br /> tainers or tanks be connected to a single heating unit . <br /> ( f) Gravity oil tanks used in connection with oil <br /> burning stoves shall be constructed, installed and maintained, <br /> as hereinbefore provided, for oil tanks used in connection with <br /> gravity oil burners, except as otherwise permitted in this <br /> section. <br /> (g) Every oil burning stove shall be provided with <br /> an automatic safeguard to prevent flooding of the burner, as <br /> elsewhere provided for gravity oil burners. <br /> (h) Oil gauges on oil reservoirs and oil supply tanks, <br /> and dampers and smokepipes between oil burning stoves and <br /> chimneys, shall comply with the requirements elsewhere provided <br /> for gravity oil burners. <br /> (i) The provisions of this ordinance limiting the <br /> installation and/or use of gravity oil burners to the lowest <br /> story of a building and restricting such installation or use <br /> in premises of a specifically mentioned occupancy, shall apply <br /> equally to oil burning stoves. <br /> -7- <br />
