Minimum fire flow requirements for single and two-family residences under 3,600 square feet is 1,000 <br /> gpm; over 3,600 square feet, fire flow is according to 2012 International Fire Code, Appendix B. <br /> 25. Single family or duplex structures that are required to have a fire sprinkler system may use a single <br /> domestic water meter(see City of Everett Public Works Standard Drawing 502C). The size of the <br /> service meter(1-inch or greater) shall be calculated by the civil engineer or fire sprinkler designer who is <br /> solely responsible for these calculations. The City of Everett Public Works Department does not review <br /> these calculations and is not the authority having jurisdiction. The fire service side of the system must <br /> have a state-approved backflow prevention device. 13D systems will be required if units are kept as <br /> single family residences. <br /> 26. 13D Single-Family Home Sprinkler System —Valves shall be in heated rooms or garages. Minimum <br /> temperature shall be maintained at 40° F (NFPA 13D & 13R 8.3.1). <br /> 27.A fire hydrant is required within 350 driving feet of every one- or two-family dwelling structure. <br /> 28. Dumpsters over 1.5 cubic yards capacity shall be located a minimum of 5 feet from the building (IFC <br /> 304.3.3 and 304.3.4, 2012 Edition). <br /> 29. Prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy the applicant shall provide condominium covenants (if a <br /> condo) or a written agreement to the satisfaction of the Fire Marshal that will provide for proper <br /> maintenance of such items as fire lanes, gates, signage, hydrants, and roads not otherwise to be <br /> maintained by the City. <br /> 30. Fire Lane Marking (per field evaluation at project final) - Fire apparatus access roads shall be marked <br /> whenever necessary to maintain the unobstructed minimum required width of roadways. Fire lanes <br /> shall be marked as follows: <br /> a. Curbs shall be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the top and front, extending <br /> the length of the designated fire lane. <br /> b. Rolled curbs shall be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the curb, extending <br /> the length of the designated fire lane. <br /> c. Lanes without curbs shall be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the pavement, <br /> extending the length of the designated fire lane. <br /> d. The words `NO PARKING —FIRE LANE' shall be in 3-inch stroke white letters 18 inches in height, <br /> and placed 8 inches measured perpendicular from the red paint stripe on the pavement. In most <br /> cases, both sides of the access road shall be marked. Where long drives are to be marked, the <br /> repetitions shall alternate sides of the drive. <br /> e. Marking shall also include the addition of metal signs stating 'NO PARKING— FIRE LANE—TOW <br /> AWAY ZONE— EMC 46.28.130'to be installed at intervals or locations designated by the Fire Code <br /> Official.
