Section 20. 'U'.L R DEPARTMENT: There shall be the following named officers, assistants, and employees in the ',eater Department of the City of Everett , to-wit: One (1) Superintendent (part time ) ; One (1) Assistant Superintendent; One (1) Chief Clerk; One (1) Inventory Clerk ; One (1) Accountant ; One (1) Distribution Operator; One (1) Operator, Three Lakes Station; One (1 ) Operator, Panther Creek; One (1) Operator, Headworks; Two (2) Draftsmen: One (1 ) Purchas- ing Agent (part time ) ; Five (5) Foremen; One (1) <'Jelder. ; One (1) Blacksmith; One (1) Blacksmith Helper; One (1 ) Inspector; One (1) Plant Chemist (part time ) ; One (1) Tractor Operator; One (1) Shov:l Operator ; Two (2 ) Bulldozer Operators; One (1) T`achinist ; Three ( ) Truck drivers; One (1) auto repairman; One (1) auto repairman' s helper; Two (2 ) servicemen; Two (2) servicemen' s helpers; One (1) Assistant Inspector; One (1 ) meter repairman ; One (1) Carpenter; One (1) Hydrant Flusher; One (1) Relief Operator ; One (1) Signal System Repairman, (part time ) ; One (1) Janitor ; One (1) Basin Patrolman; Four (4) skilled laborers; One (1) pipe fitter, and One (1) or more common laborers. There is hereby created in the 7,iater Department the following additional officers, assistants and employees in connection with Construction Project under the Water Department , to-wit: One (1) Project Engineer; One (1 ) or more transitmen; One (1) or more levelmen; One (1) or more rodmen; One (1) or more head chainmen; One (1) or more rear chainmen ; One (1) or more axemen; One (1) or more draftsmen. cone of said last named officers , assistants or employees shall be permanent officers, assistants or employees, but shall be considered as temporary officers , assistants and employees and shall be employed only when there is work to perform. The Superintendent shall be in general charge and supe '- vision of the ;Dater Department . The other officers, assistants and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by the Superinten' eni of the Water System and Commissioner of Public hhorks. Section 21: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix the number and description of the permanent assistants, deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of Everett , and nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the various officers and various heads of the depart- ments of the City of Everett from employing, with the consent of the City Council, such additional employees as, from time to time, may be necessary in the proper discharge of the duties of such officers, or from discontinuing such temporary employees when the necessity therefor has ceased to exist. -6-
