1 13. All splices between the loop wire and the loop lead-in cable shall be <br /> 2 soldered and utilize a splice kit in conformance with Standard Drawing <br /> 3 809. <br /> 4 14. When the roadway is to be overlaid as a part of the project, the loops <br /> 5 shall be installed prior to the final overlay. <br /> 6 15. Circular loops are standard installations. Where shown in the Plans, the <br /> 7 contractor shall install quadrupole loops at stop lines due to stub-out <br /> 8 diameter. At locations where quadrupole loops are shown and adequate <br /> 9 stub-out diameter exists, round loops may be substituted for quadrupole <br /> 10 loops. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Existing Traffic Loops <br /> 14 <br /> 15 The Contractor shall notify the Area Traffic Engineer through the Engineer a <br /> 16 minimum of five (5) working days in advance of pavement removal or grinding <br /> 17 in areas with existing loops. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 If the Engineer suspects that damage to any loop, not identified in the Plans as <br /> 20 being replaced, may have resulted from Contractor's operations or is not <br /> 21 operating adequately, the Engineer may order the Contractor to perform the field <br /> 22 tests specified in Section 8 20.3(14)D. The test results shall be recorded and <br /> 23 submitted to the Engineer. Loops that fail any of these tests shall be replaced. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Loops that fail the tests, as described above, and are replaced shall be installed <br /> 26 in accordance with current City of Everett design standards and Standard <br /> 27 Drawings, as determined by the Engineer. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 If traffic signal loops that fail the tests, as described above, are not replaced and <br /> 30 operational within 5 working days, the Contractor shall install and maintain <br /> 31 interim video detection until the replacement loops are operational. The type of <br /> 32 interim video detection furnished shall be approved by the Engineer prior to <br /> 33 installation. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 GLF 8-20.4.DOCX <br /> 36 8-20.4 Measurement <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Section 8-20.4 is supplemented with the following: <br /> 39 <br /> 40 (******) <br /> 41 "Vehicle Loop Detectors", for both loop perimeter and home run, shall be measured by <br /> 42 the linear foot of the neat sawcut line in place in the roadway. No additional measurement <br /> 43 will be made for the installation of lead-in conduit and shall be included in the <br /> 44 measurement <br /> 45 <br /> 46 "Loop Detector Lead-In Cable" shall be measured by the linear foot of the neat line of <br /> 47 conduit between the controller cabinet and loop splice.
