I 1 Submit a Type 1 Working Drawing consisting of the sealant manufacturer's application I 2 procedure. 3 4 Construct the bridge paving joint seal as specified ion the Plans and in accordance with I 5 the detail shown in the Standard Plans. Construct the sawcut in accordance with the 6 detail shown in the Standard Plan. Construct the sawcut in accordance with Section 5- 7 05.3(8)B and the manufacturer's application procedure. I8 9 5-O4.3(12)B2 Paved Panel Joint Seal 10 Construct the paved panel joint seal in accordance with the requirements specified in 11 section 5-04.3(12)B1 and the following requirement: 12 13 1. Clean and seal the existing joint between concrete panels in accordance with 14 Section 5-01.3(8) and the details shown in the Standard Plans. 15 I16 5-04.3(13) Surface Smoothness 17 The completed surface of all courses shall be of uniform texture, smooth, uniform as to 18 crown and grade, and free from defects of all kinds. The completed surface of the I 19 wearing course shall not vary more than '/8 inch from the lower edge of a 10-foot 20 straightedge placed on the surface parallel to the centerline. The transverse slope of the 21 completed surface of the wearing course shall vary not more than 'A inch in 10 feet from I 22 the rate of transverse slope shown in the Plans. 23 I 24 When deviations in excess of the above tolerances are found that result from a high 25 place in the HMA, the pavement surface shall be corrected by one of the 26 following methods: 27 I 28 1. Removal of material from high places by grinding with an approved grinding 29 machine, or 30 2. Removal and replacement of the wearing course of HMA, or 31 3. By other method approved by the Engineer. 32 I 33 Correction of defects shall be carried out until there are no deviations anywhere greater 34 than the allowable tolerances. 35 36 Deviations in excess of the above tolerances that result from a low place in the HMA and 37 deviations resulting from a high place where corrective action, in the opinion of the 38 Engineer, will not produce satisfactory results will be accepted with a price adjustment. I 39 The Engineer shall deduct from monies due or that may become due to the Contractor 40 the sum of$500.00 for each and every section of single traffic lane 100 feet in length in 41 which any excessive deviations described above are found. I42 43 When utility appurtenances such as manhole covers and valve boxes are located in the 44 traveled way, the utility appurtenances shall be adjusted to the finished grade prior to I 45 paving.
