• S
RESPONSE TO CITY OF EVERETT PERMIT SERVICES
SECOND INTAKE BUILDING REVIEW RESPONSE
RESPONSE: A floor plan for each level of the existing 2-story house with the information
you requested has been included in the plan set: Al2 and A13, Main & Upper floor
plans respectively.
4. COMMENT: The historical SnoCo records for this house do not indicate that the
basement was finished (i.e., habitable). There appears to be unpermitted work,
including but not limited to the bathroom by the stairs. All work at this level should be
shown as new construction in the current project, or documentation substantiating that
the work was previously permitted should be submitted for review.
RESPONSE: After our conversation, I pulled up the permit from June 27, 1980. It is
attached here for your reference. We believe the bathroom by the stairs was
permitted as part of the original construction permit through the following information:
1980 PERMIT FIXTURE COUNT:
4 water closets
2 bathtubs
6 lavatories
1 shower
Upon count of the existing fixtures on the main and upper floor, which are shown on the
existing drawings, Al2 & A13, the following counts appears to substantiate the
basement bathroom:
MAIN & UPPER FLOOR FIXTURE COUNT:
3 water closets
2 bathtubs
5 lavatories
0 showers
BASEMENT FIXTURE COUNT:
1 water closet
0 bathtubs
1 lavatory
1 shower
As you can see on existing drawing, I've defined the area of the bathroom and
adjacent hallway/stairs as existing and approved as part of the original permit. We are
not proposing any changes in this area and I have subtracted that from the square
footage of the 'new habitable space'.
The assumption is that all of the exterior and structural walls for floors above are existing
and were permitted as part of the original building permit, but any additional work to
make the basement habitable is new. These areas are identified on the Existing Floor
Plan, Sheet A6.
2of4
