The original comment stated that the design and detailing for the firewall does not comply with IBC Section 706. The revised wall design The following comments should be addressed: a. The wall is required to allow collapse of the structure on either side. Per the original comment, the two-hour wall per GA File WP 1522 shown in the First Floor Plan on Sheet A2.03 does not comply; this wall has not been revised. See Section 706.2. c. The wall is required to extend from the foundation and extend a minimum of 30 inches above the roof per Section 706.6, or the construction shall comply with one of the exceptions. The response states that the roof has been detailed to comply with Exception 4. However, Section 5/A5.02 does not specify the required fire-retardant construction. Accessibility: 4. This comment has not been completely addressed. The original comment is provided below. Documentation was not submitted as stated in the original comment. The building does not appear to be fully-accessible. The restrooms at the east end of the building are not accessible. Accessible restrooms must be located in the same area as non-accessible restrooms; accessible restrooms on the opposite side of the building do not comply. Original comment: The project involves both Level 2 Alterations and an Addition to the building per IEBC Chapters 8 and 11. Accessibility improvements per IEBC Section 705.2 should be included in the project. Where the building is made to be less than fully-accessible per one of the exceptions, documentation substantiating the limited accessibility improvements should be submitted for review. Where Exception 1 is used, the documentation should itemize the improvements and estimated cost of work associated with each item. See IEBC Sections 806.1 and 1105.1. 5. This comment has not been completely addressed. The revised ramp design appears generally compliant. The handrail height and extensions should be dimensioned. The top outer rail should extend parallel to the ramp run; the horizontal bend does not comply. See IBC Sections 1014.2 and 1014.6. Structural, Gravity System: 5. This comment has not been completely addressed. The location of the fire wall has been revised in response to the original comment. The location of the wall relative to the trusses above is not clear. A detail should be provided clarifying the support of the roof.
