The revised wall <br /> design The following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The wall is required to allow collapse of the structure on either side. Per the original <br /> comment, the two-hour wall per GA File WP 1522 shown in the First Floor Plan on Sheet <br /> A2.03 does not comply; this wall has not been revised. See Section 706.2. <br /> c. The wall is required to extend from the foundation and extend a minimum of 30 inches <br /> above the roof per Section 706.6, or the construction shall comply with one of the <br /> exceptions. The response states that the roof has been detailed to comply with Exception <br /> 4. However, Section 5/A5.02 does not specify the required fire-retardant construction. <br /> Accessibility: <br /> 4. This comment has not been completely addressed. The original comment is provided below. <br /> Documentation was not submitted as stated in the original comment. The building does not <br /> appear to be fully-accessible. The restrooms at the east end of the building are not accessible. <br /> Accessible restrooms must be located in the same area as non-accessible restrooms; accessible <br /> restrooms on the opposite side of the building do not comply. <br /> Original comment: The project involves both Level 2 Alterations and an Addition to the building <br /> per IEBC Chapters 8 and 11. Accessibility improvements per IEBC Section 705.2 should be <br /> included in the project. Where the building is made to be less than fully-accessible per one of <br /> the exceptions, documentation substantiating the limited accessibility improvements should be <br /> submitted for review. Where Exception 1 is used, the documentation should itemize the <br /> improvements and estimated cost of work associated with each item. See IEBC Sections 806.1 <br /> and 1105.1. <br /> 5. This comment has not been completely addressed. The revised ramp design appears generally <br /> compliant. The handrail height and extensions should be dimensioned. The top outer rail <br /> should extend parallel to the ramp run; the horizontal bend does not comply. See IBC Sections <br /> 1014.2 and 1014.6. <br /> Structural, <br /> Gravity System: <br /> 5. This comment has not been completely addressed. The location of the fire wall has been <br /> revised in response to the original comment. The location of the wall relative to the trusses <br /> above is not clear. A detail should be provided clarifying the support of the roof. Note that the <br /> wall design does not comply with IBC Section 706.2; see Architectural Comment 3 for additional <br /> information.
