High-early strength Portland cement concrete mixes may be used with the approval of <br /> the Owner. <br /> C. Detectable warning surface shall comply with WSDOT Standard Specifications Section <br /> 8-14.2. <br /> 2.2 MIXES <br /> A. Concrete design mixtures shall conform to Section 5-05.3(1) of the WSDOT Standard <br /> Specifications. When automatic machine placement is used, determine design mixtures <br /> and obtain laboratory test results that meet or exceed requirements. <br /> B. Where class of concrete is not indicated on the Contract Documents, mix design shall <br /> comply with the following: <br /> 1. Concrete mix for Portland cement concrete pavement for arterial and non-arterial <br /> roadways, transit drive, and driveway approach entrances shall comply with WSDOT <br /> Standard Specifications Section 5-05.3(1). <br /> 2. Concrete mix for Portland cement concrete for non-roadways shall comply with <br /> WSDOT Standard Specifications Sections 8-14 and 6-02. Portland cement concrete <br /> sidewalk and curb ramps shall be Class 3000. <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 PREPARATION <br /> A. Prepare subgrade for surfacing as stated elsewhere in the Contract Documents. <br /> B. Construct Aggregate Base Course surfacing as stated elsewhere in the Contract <br /> Documents. <br /> C. Prior to starting work, carefully inspect installed work of other trades and verify that such <br /> work is complete to the point where work of this Section may properly commence. Notify <br /> the Owner in writing of conditions detrimental to the proper and timely completion of the <br /> work. <br /> D. Do not begin installation until all unsatisfactory conditions are resolved. Beginning work <br /> constitutes acceptance of site conditions and responsibility for defective installation <br /> caused by prior observable conditions. <br /> 3.2 CONSTRUCTION <br /> A. Construct Portland cement concrete pavement in accordance with the lines, grades, <br /> pavement section thicknesses, and typical cross-sections indicated on the Contract <br /> Drawings. Remove and replace pavement that is not within the allowable tolerances for <br /> line, grade, thickness and cross-section. <br /> B. Construct Portland cement concrete pavements for roadways in conformance with <br /> WSDOT Standard Specifications Section 5-05.3. <br /> C. Construct Portland cement sidewalks and curb ramps in conformance with WSDOT <br /> Standard Specifications Section 8-14.3. <br /> 32 16 13 -2 CEMENT CONCRETE PAVING <br />
