Follow the Shipboard Fire Safety Plan outlined in this manual (pg,51-58) <br />15 fquestions arise about safety oryou have a concern foryour health contact thejob site <br />manager. <br />Power Equipment and Tools <br />1. All power equipment and tools must be kept and stored in safe working condition. <br />2. All electrical power tools must be doutb insulated orgrounded. <br />3. Equipments not to be used unless all guards are operable and in place. <br />4. Any equipment Wh damaged or missing safety devices must be locked out or rendered <br />inoperable and tagged until repairs can be made. <br />5. Do not use any tool, powered or otherwise, unless you are familiar with the operation and <br />specific use of the tool. <br />6. Notify engineering ifany tool is broken ordamaged in anyway. <br />7. Do not use damaged extensbn cords. Replace cords that are cut or repair insulation with heat <br />shrink. Electrical tape repairs are not allowed. Ensure all extension cords used with grounded <br />equipment have a ground prong and are used in grounded receptacles. <br />8. Use only air nozzles with side port diffusers when cleaning with compressed air. <br />9. Ring test bench grinder wheels before mounting to ensure they are not cracked. <br />10. Keep bench grinders adjusted as below: <br />Ladders <br />1. Employees are prohibited from using ladders that are broken, missing steps, rungs, or that <br />have been broken side rails or other faulty equipment. Ladders are to be maintained in good, <br />serviceaHe condition, or they must be removed from service and tagged "Do Not Use", <br />csposed of, or repaired. <br />2. Perform safety check of ladder prior to use- non -slip safety feet in place, rungs and work <br />surfaces free of grease and oil, joints between steps and side rails tight, and hardware <br />fittings and spreaders tight. <br />3. Rungs of ladders should be uniformly spaced at 12 inches, center to center. <br />4. Metal ladders are not to be used around electrical equipment and should show no signs of <br />corrosion. <br />
