J <br /> . <br /> »ection 2: It shall be unlawful to install, sell <br /> or offer for sale, or use within the City of Everett, any type <br /> or make of oil burner, as hereinbefore defined, unless the <br /> manufacturer thereof, or his agent, has first obtained from <br /> the Fire Chief of the City of "Everett a Certificate of Approval <br /> for the oil burner and all accessories attached or to be <br /> attached thereto, except tanks, piping and electric wiring. <br /> certificate of Approval, as above provided, shall be <br /> issued or denied in accordance with the following requirements: <br /> (a) . Any person desiring a Certificate of Appro&al <br /> for an oil burner shall, at least thirty (30) days before such <br /> oil burner is installed or sold, make application in writing <br /> at the office of the Fire Chief, upon a form provided for <br /> that purpose, which shall be accompanied with a blue print of <br /> assembly drawing, in size not less than 12 x 18 inches, <br /> showing construction of the device, indicating moving parts, <br /> oil passages and air passages and all accessories to be <br /> attached to the burner. <br /> (b) _'he Fire Chief shall within shirty (30) <br /> days from the receipt of the above application, issue a <br /> Certificate of Approval as applied for, or shall refuse such <br /> Certificate of Approval, in accordance with the provisions of <br /> this ordinance. <br /> ( c ) Certificates of Approval, as herein pro- <br /> vided, shall be issued only for oil burners of types which <br /> comply in all respects with the requirements of this ordinance, <br /> and the Fire Chief may require any applicant for such <br /> Certificate to submit his type of oil burner to a practical <br /> demonstration to be conducted under the direction of the said <br /> Fire Chief with a view of testing such appliance for compliance <br /> with said requirements; provided, however, that notless <br /> than Fifty (50 ) gallons of oil fuel shall be used in any such <br /> oil burner tests. w'he entire cost of each test shall be borne <br /> by the said applicant. <br /> ( d) Should the Fire Chief disapprove of an oil <br /> burner and refuse to grant a Certificate of Approval therefor, <br /> he shall issue to the manufacturer of the burner, or his agent, <br /> a clear and concise statement in writing as to the reason or <br /> reasons therefor, and no new application for a Certificate of <br /> Approval for such burner shall be made until iinety (90 ) days <br /> from the date of said disapproval, except that any minor <br /> changes that shall be necessary may be submitted at the con- <br /> venience of the applicant . <br /> (e) Any new application made after the Fire <br /> Chief has disapproved an oil burner shall be accompanied <br /> by a clear and concise statement, giving reasons for re- <br /> consideration, based on information received with the state- <br /> ment of reasons for disapproval. <br /> d.K <br /> -2 - <br />
