/ s • • • • • • • - - : •section 3: It shall be unlawful to install, <br /> maintain or use, or cause to be installed, maintained or used, <br /> any oil burner or oil burning equipment without- first obtain- <br /> ing a written or printed permit from the 2ire Chief, so to do, <br /> and complying with all the provisions hereof relating to the <br /> installation, maintenance and use of oil burners and oil burn- <br /> ing equipment . <br /> Section 4: Where oil burning, systems, using a <br /> pump to deliver oil fuel from an above-ground oil storage or <br /> supply tank to the burner are installed or used, the construction <br /> of the tank and its distance from the heating device containing <br /> the oil burner and all piping in connection therewith, shall <br /> comply with the provisions of this ordinazice relating to <br /> gravity oil burning systems. If the suction outlet from the <br /> oil supply tank of such systems is located below the level <br /> of the oil burner, or an approved anti-syphoning deviee is <br /> provided in the oil feed pipe to the burner, such oil burning <br /> systems may be installed and used in any story of a building, <br /> and in premises of any type of occupancy, notwithstanding the <br /> restrictions hereinafter provided for gravity oil burning <br /> systems. In all other respects oil burners to which oil fuel <br /> is delivered by pumping from an above-ground storage tank, <br /> shall comply with the requirements of this ordinance relating to <br /> oil burners connected to underground tanks. <br /> Oil burners and oil burning stoves which are designed <br /> to burn oil having flash point below one hundrea twenty (120) <br /> degrees Fahrenheit and which are provided with an oil storage <br /> or supply tank having, an oil capacity in excess of One ( 1) <br /> gallon are prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person <br /> to use any such oil as a fuel or as a primer for an oil burner, <br /> in any oil burning systems using an oil supply tank of a <br /> capacity in excess of One (1) gallon. <br /> Section 5: Gravity oil burners for installation <br /> in ranges, stoves, furnaces and other heating devices, and all <br /> oil burning equipment in connection therewith, shall comply <br /> with the following requirements of this section: <br /> (a) Only such gravity oil burners as Lave <br /> been inspected and approved by the Fire chief as elsewhere <br /> herein provided, shall be offered for sale, installed or <br /> used within the City of Everett , iiashington. <br /> (b ) :he -.Fire Chief may reject pr disapprove <br /> any gravity oil burner which is not provided with adequate <br /> safeguards against fire or explosion or which is otherwise <br /> unsafe for use within the city limits of Everett . <br /> (c ) The recommendations and regulations per- <br /> taining to oil burners of the gravity type for installation <br /> in stoves, ranges and other heating devices as provided <br /> from time to time by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, <br /> and the standards of construction as promulgated by Under- <br /> writers' Laboratories, or by any other organization of <br /> equivalent standing properly equipped and qualified for <br /> -3- <br />
