Standar gauge in thick- <br /> ness. -160 <br /> ( j ) No glass bottle oil container and no oil <br /> • supply tank of the vacuum feed tjpe shall have a capacity in <br /> excess of Three (3 ) gallons. <br /> (k) very gravity oil burner shall be pro- <br /> vided with an automatic safeguard to prevent flooding of the <br /> burner, which may be a trip bucket or a proper arrangement <br /> of the burner equipment to maintain a constant or fixed <br /> level of oil to prevent abnormal discharge of oil. <br /> (1) No gravity oil tank or container shall <br /> be provided with an oil level gauge which leaks or is likely <br /> to leak. Glass gauges, except as permitted for glass bottle <br /> oil containers are prohibited. <br /> (m) No damper which may entirely close the <br /> chimney uptake shall be installed or used in any smokepipe <br /> between a gravity oil burner and the chimney and the air <br /> regulating device on the front of the stove, range, furnace <br /> or other heating device shall be permanently fastened in the <br /> open position. <br /> (n) Standard full weight wrought iron or <br /> steel pipe not less than one-fourth inch inside diameter, <br /> or brass or copper tubing not less than five-sixteenths <br /> inch outside diameter with a wall thickness not less than <br /> .049 inch for small sizes and correspondingly heavier <br /> where necessary, shall be used for oil supply lines. All <br /> piping and tubing shall be tightly put together with due <br /> allowance for expansion, contraction, jarring and vibration <br /> and where necessary, protected against mechanical injury. <br /> ( o) Gravity oil burning equipment shall comply <br /> with the requirements of this ordinance relating, to oil <br /> burners to which oil fuel is delivered to the burner by pump- <br /> ing, insofar as the same are practicable and do not conflict <br /> with the requirements of this section. <br /> Section 6: Nothing in the foregoing provisions <br /> relating to gravity oil burners shall be construed as pro- <br /> hibiting the sale, installation or use of oil burning stoves <br /> as hereinbefore defined; provided, such stoves shall comply <br /> with the following requirements: <br /> (a) Only such oil burning stoves as have <br /> been inspected and approved by the Are Chief, as else- <br /> where herein provided, shall be offered for sale , installed <br /> or used within the City of L2verett . <br /> (b ) The Fire Chief may reject or disapprove <br /> any oil burning stove which is not provided with adequate <br /> safeguards against fire or explosion or which in his judgment <br /> is otherwise unsafe for use within the City of _,:verett . • <br />
