•
a • S
RE,2760VE1
2021
1818 Holbrook Avenue Permit#
rmit Services
Response to letter from Drew Martin on 07/14/21 (letter attached)
To whom it may concern,
In this letter, I have included Drew Martin's notes from his letter to Anne Weech regarding
unpermitted work done by a previous owner to the house at 1818 Holbrook Avenue in Everett.
Next to each of his notes, I have written our response on how we propose to remedy each of
these issues.
• Finishing of 900 SF of basement level, including but not limited to adding a full kitchen,
bedroom without code-compliant emergency egress, and bathroom.
Basement level rooms at the front(North side) of the house will all be demolished
and exposed prior to new construction. Our submitted plans include as-built,
demo and proposed plans for all areas of new construction. The not-permitted
kitchen and bathroom at this level be removed. They are not on the plans as they
should not have been "exisiting". Rooms at the back of the basement level will be
opened up and exposed as needed for any inspections of existing or potentially
unpermitted work.
• Structural modifications, including but not limited to new window and exterior door for the
undeveloped rear basement area.
As stated above, modifications have been shown in our submitted plans. If
desired, any structural element in question and not addressed in the submitted
plans will be exposed and subject to inspection or verified by a structural
engineer who will provide a letter addressing the issue.
• Possible head clearance issues in the basement level at one or more locations.
All areas with questionable head clearance issues are being used as basement,
storage, or utility rooms and not as living spaces.
• Possible modifications to the Upper Level, including but not limited to remodeled upstairs
344 bathroom, replaced wood fireplace with gas stove insert, reconfigured main kitchen.
Remodeled areas such as the 3/4 bathroom have been addressed in the submitted
plans. All existing fireplaces are either wood burning or electric but are also be
removed and are addressed in the submitted plans. The kitchen has been
minimally reconfigured essentially with new cabinets. There was a gas line added
&../.;
