These documents have not been
reviewed for the treatment of oil or grease that may enter the City of Everett sewer system.
Contact Industrial Pretreatment at (425)257-8240 regarding pretreatment or grease removal
requirements. The drawings shall specify the requirement to install a grease trap if required.
See EMC Chapter 14.42.
Structural
1. The project is anticipated to require the installation of new rooftop mechanic equipment, such
as but not limited to the exhaust fans and make-up air units for the Type I and II hoods. The
construction drawings should include a roof plan showing the approximate location, size, and
weight of all units. Existing units, including their weights, should also be shown. See IBC
Section 1603.8.1.
2. Continuing with the previous comment, the addition of rooftop units may exceed the design
capacity of the existing roof structure. Modifications may also be required to support the units
(e.g., support framing for curbs) and create duct penetrations. Structural framing plans should
be provided showing the existing and new framing supporting all rooftop units. Details to
modify the roof framing should be provided. Structural calculations substantiating the
modifications should be submitted for review. See IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.1, and 1604.4.
3. Structural modifications to the building should be sealed and signed by a licensed engineered
registered in the state of Washington. See the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Sections
18.43.010, 18.43.020, and 18.43.070.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2021\132105-014_R1.docx
O3200 Cedar Street 425.257.8810 0 everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/pe ' s
Page 4 of 4
