Three of Ordinance No. 2516 be amended to read as follows, to-wit: Section 7: There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the Fire Depart- ment, to-wit : Chief of the Fire Department , Assistant Chief of the Fire Depart- ment , Second Assistant Chief of the Fire Department , Secretary and Auto-Eriver, Superintendent of Fire and Police Signal System, Assistant Superintendent of lire and Police Signal System and Auto-driver, Master mechanic , Assistant Master mech- anic and Auto-driver, four (4) Captains, thirteen. (13) auto-drivers, two (2) Fire Alarm Operators , ten (10) First Grade Pipemen. Firemen for the first year of service shall be classed as Third Grade Pipemen; firemen for the second year of service shall be classed as Second Grade Pipemen and firemen for the third year of service and thereafter shall be classed as First Grade Pipemen. For lack of funds and the urgent necessity of economy and to curtail expense of the department, all officers thereof shall be required to deduct twenty (20) days without pay from the balance of their 1934 year employment, said twenty (20) days of service to be at staggered intervals during the year; provided, the Chief of the fire Department shall not be required to deduct said twenty (20) days absence without pay. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in said depart- ment to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment and such oth- er duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or the Commissioner of Public Safety may authorize and direct . The Chief of the Fire Department shall be the adminis- trative head of the Fire Department . Section 4: That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as follows , to-wit: Section 9: There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the street and sewer department, to-wit: Street Superintendent, Assistant to the Street Superintendent (part time) , barn man, tractor man, four truck drivers, five repair men, laborers (or extra helpers) , three push up men, one street painter or marker end two sewer inspectors . All of the above named assistants shall perform the duties indicated by the name of their respective employment , and such other duties as the Superintendent of Streets shall from time to time authorize and determine . The Superintendent of streets shall be the administrative head of this department. -2-
