. <br /> Three of Ordinance No. 2516 be amended to read as follows, to-wit: Section 7: <br /> There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the Fire Depart- <br /> ment, to-wit : Chief of the Fire Department , Assistant Chief of the Fire Depart- <br /> ment , Second Assistant Chief of the Fire Department , Secretary and Auto-Eriver, <br /> Superintendent of Fire and Police Signal System, Assistant Superintendent of lire <br /> and Police Signal System and Auto-driver, Master mechanic , Assistant Master mech- <br /> anic and Auto-driver, four (4) Captains, thirteen. (13) auto-drivers, two (2) Fire <br /> Alarm Operators , ten (10) First Grade Pipemen. Firemen for the first year of <br /> service shall be classed as Third Grade Pipemen; firemen for the second year of <br /> service shall be classed as Second Grade Pipemen and firemen for the third year <br /> of service and thereafter shall be classed as First Grade Pipemen. <br /> For lack of funds and the urgent necessity of economy and to curtail expense of <br /> the department, all officers thereof shall be required to deduct twenty (20) days <br /> without pay from the balance of their 1934 year employment, said twenty (20) days <br /> of service to be at staggered intervals during the year; provided, the Chief of <br /> the fire Department shall not be required to deduct said twenty (20) days absence <br /> without pay. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in said depart- <br /> ment to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment and such oth- <br /> er duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or the Commissioner of Public Safety <br /> may authorize and direct . The Chief of the Fire Department shall be the adminis- <br /> trative head of the Fire Department . <br /> Section 4: That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as <br /> follows , to-wit: Section 9: There shall be the following named officers and <br /> assistants in the street and sewer department, to-wit: Street Superintendent, <br /> Assistant to the Street Superintendent (part time) , barn man, tractor man, four <br /> truck drivers, five repair men, laborers (or extra helpers) , three push up men, <br /> one street painter or marker end two sewer inspectors . All of the above named <br /> assistants shall perform the duties indicated by the name of their respective <br /> employment , and such other duties as the Superintendent of Streets shall from <br /> time to time authorize and determine . The Superintendent of streets shall be <br /> the administrative head of this department. <br /> -2- <br />
