Meter rates will be due and payable on <br /> or before the tenth of the month following that in which the water was supplied. <br /> All charges for water shall be payable at the office of the Water Department to <br /> the City Treasurer. If water rates are not paid within said time , they shall <br /> become delinquent and the water may be immediately shut off from the premises <br /> and shall not be turned on again to such premises at the instance of the owner <br /> or authorized agent of said premises or any tenant or occupant of the same un- <br /> til all arrears are paid , together with a charge of fifty cents (500) for the <br /> expense of inspection and shutting off and turning on the water . <br /> Section 39 - Service Protection <br /> All pipes must be laid not less than twenty-four inches (24") below the <br /> surface of the ground on private property and not less than thirty inches <br /> (30") on public property . No work shall be covered up until it has been in- <br /> spected and accepted by the Water Department . <br /> Section 40 - Dormant Services and Change in Size <br /> When new buildings are to be erected on the site of the old ones and it <br /> is desired to increase the size of or change the location of the old service <br /> connection, or where a service connection to any premises is abandoned or no <br /> longer used, the Water Department may cut out or remove such service connec- <br /> tion, after which, should a service connection be required to said premises , <br /> a new service shall be placed only upon the owner making an application and <br /> paying for a new tap in the regular manner. When the service connection of <br /> any premises does not come from a main in front of said premises , the Water <br /> Department shall, when a main is laid in front of said premises, after noti- <br /> fying the owner or tenant thereof, transfer the service connection to the new <br /> main (without charge ) and at the same time cut out the old service connection. <br /> Section 41 - Bonds - Cashier's <br /> The cashier of said Water Department shall furnish a bond conditioned <br /> as the bonds of other officers and employees of the City of Everett, in the <br /> sum of twenty-five hundred dollars, and the assistant cashier shall furnish a <br /> bond in the sum of one thousand dollars. <br /> Section 42 - Bond - Superintendent <br /> The Water Superintendent shall furnish a bond conditioned as the bonds of <br /> other officers and employees of the City of Everett, in the sum of one thousand <br /> dollars . -17- <br />
