A room with a break or projection in the ceiling or side wall such as a <br /> beam or pillar, constitutes two rooms, provided that floor space of each divi- <br /> sion equals six feet by eight feet or larger . <br /> A boarding house is one having four or more boarders . It shall be sup- <br /> plied through a meter only. <br /> An apartment is one or more rooms used for housekeeping in which there <br /> is a sink, and the charge shall be the same as a dwelling rate . <br /> A light housekeeping apartment is one or more rooms in which food is <br /> cooked and to which water is carried from a central fixture within the build- <br /> ing. <br /> One person occupying a building constitutes a family. <br /> Section 19 - Application for Water Service <br /> Before the water is turned on to any premises, an application must be <br /> made in writing at the Water Department by owner or authorized agent, and the <br /> water charge paid in advance . An inspector delegated by the Water Department <br /> will make an examination of any new work, and if it is found that it has been <br /> done according to the rules and regulations of the Water Department, and in <br /> conformity with the ordinance of the City of Everett, the water will then be <br /> turned on. <br /> When an application has been made for a connection with the mains, and <br /> after the charge therefor shall have been paid , and after the applicant shall <br /> have run his pipes from a point one foot inside the curb line to a point in- <br /> side his property line , the service pipe and connections from the main to and <br /> including a curb cock to be placed one foot within the line of the street curb, <br /> will be put in and kept within its exclusive ownership and control . Water Con- <br /> nection will not be made except where a building or building material is on <br /> the premises. <br /> The Water Department will maintain all water pipes upon City owned property, <br /> except on metered services, then maintenance shall be up to and including the <br /> water meter. <br /> No water will be furnished on premises of a consumer where the supply pipe <br /> is of black iron. <br /> A connection to the Water Department's main must be made on the same lot <br /> -8- <br />
