The make and model of proprietary connections
should be specified, and include the type and number of fasteners.
12. The minimum fastening requirements for the wood framing should be specified. See IRC Table
R602.3(1). A schedule should be provided listing the type of connections, and the type and
number of fasteners for each connection. The list should include but is not limited to:
a. Wall studs to top and bottom plates.
b. Top plate splices.
c. Built-up headers.
d. Header to supporting framing (e.g., king and jack studs).
e. Wall corners.
f. Continuing with the previous comment, the make and model of proprietary connection
hardware should be specified where used. An engineered design should be performed per
Section R301.1.3 and IBC Chapter 16. Calculations substantiating the design should be
submitted for review.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2020\B2006-047_R2.docx
3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 0everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 6 of 6
