minimize the impact the contractor is instructed to 1) direct load the contaminated soil, stock piling is
not aloud and 2)the trucks are to remain on the adjacent pavement to reduce tracking sediment.
3.0 CONSTRUCTION STORMWATER BMPs
The updates to and implementation of the C-SWPPP will be overseen by the Contractor's Certified
Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)who has not been determined at this time. Prior to
construction, the CESCL will update and finalize the C-SWPPP based upon construction approach and
phasing.
3.1 The 13 BMP Elements
3.1.1 Element#1—Mark Clearing Limits
To protect adjacent properties and to reduce the area of soil exposed to construction, the limits of
excavation will be clearly marked before land-disturbing activities begin. In general, natural vegetation
and native topsoil shall be retained in undisturbed state to the maximum possible. The BMPs relevant to
marking and clearing limits that will be applied for this project include:
BMP C101: Preserving Natural Vegetation
BMP C233: Silt Fence
All vegetation outside designated limits will remain undisturbed. Clearing limits will be marked in the
field prior to any clearing or grading in accordance with the plans. Silt fences will be used to not only to
prevent sediment from leaving the site but also to mark the clearing limits. Clearing limits will be
reviewed in the field with GeoEngineers.Additional areas to be preserved may be identified at that time
and shall be marked accordingly.
3.1.2 Element#2—Establish Construction Access
Construction access or activities occurring on unpaved areas shall be minimized, yet when necessary,
access points shall be stabilized to minimize the tracking of sediment onto public roads, and wheel
washing, street sweeping, and street cleaning will be employed as needed to prevent sediment from
entering state waters. All wash waste water shall be controlled on site. The specific BMP related to
establishing construction access that will be used on this project include:
BMP C105:Stabilized Construction Entrance.
6
