2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 75 diameter. At locations where quadrupole loops are shown and adequate 1 stub-out diameter exists, round loops may be substituted for quadrupole 2 loops. 3 4 5 Existing Traffic Loops 6 7 The Contractor shall notify the Area Traffic Engineer through the Engineer a 8 minimum of five (5) working days in advance of pavement removal or grinding 9 in areas with existing loops. 10 11 If the Engineer suspects that damage to any loop, not identified in the Plans as 12 being replaced, may have resulted from Contractor’s operations or is not 13 operating adequately, the Engineer may order the Contractor to perform the field 14 tests specified in Section 8 20.3(14)D. The test results shall be recorded and 15 submitted to the Engineer. Loops that fail any of these tests shall be replaced. 16 17 Loops that fail the tests, as described above, and are replaced shall be installed 18 in accordance with current City of Everett design standards and Standard 19 Drawings, as determined by the Engineer. 20 21 If traffic signal loops that fail the tests, as described above, are not replaced and 22 operational within 5 working days, the Contractor shall install and maintain 23 interim video detection until the replacement loops are operational. The type of 24 interim video detection furnished shall be approved by the Engineer prior to 25 installation. 26 27 GLF 8-20.4.DOCX 28 8-20.4 Measurement 29 30 Section 8-20.4 is supplemented with the following: 31 32 (******) 33 “Vehicle Loop Detectors”, for both loop perimeter and home run, shall be measured by 34 the linear foot of the neat sawcut line in place in the roadway. No additional measurement 35 will be made for the installation of lead-in conduit and shall be included in the 36 measurement 37 38 “Loop Detector Lead-In Cable” shall be measured by the linear foot of the neat line of 39 conduit between the controller cabinet and loop splice. No additional measurement will 40 be made for coiled loop detector cable in junction boxes or cabinets. 41 42 “Conduit Pipe 2 In. Diam.” shall be measured by the linear foot of the neat line of conduit 43 between the junction box and the curb line.
