The Contractor shall provide an updated progress schedule in accordance 2 with Section 1-08.3 confirming that the scheduled delivery of materials will 3 meet the schedule to complete the work within the allowed time. The 4 Contractor shall supplement the progress schedule with a written narrative 5 describing the assumed production rates and planned resource allocations 6 that support the bridge construction activity durations provided in the 7 progress schedule. 8 9 5. The Contractor has received the Engineer’s concurrence to proceed. 10 11 2-02.3(2).OPT13.DOCX 12 (******) 13 Removal of Drainage Structures and Pipes 14 Where shown in the Plans or where designated by the Engineer, the Contractor shall 15 remove existing storm drainage pipes and Structures, regardless of the size and 16 type. Removal shall be conducted in such a manner to prevent damage to 17 surrounding landscape, trees, and facilities including any existing storm drainage, 18 sanitary sewer, electrical conduits or other facilities to remain. Removal operations 19 shall be performed from within existing Right-of-Way or easements. All remaining 20 facilities including storm drainage, sanitary sewer and electrical conduits damaged 21 due to the Contractor’s operations shall be replaced by the Contractor to the 22 satisfaction of the Engineer at no additional cost to the Contracting Agency. Each 23 Structure designated for removal, including all debris, shall be removed in its entirety. 24 Pipes designated for removal, including all debris, shall be removed to the limits 25 shown in the Plans. All necessary excavation to remove existing pipes and 26 Structures shall be included in this Work. 27 28 The Contractor may salvage excavated native material meeting the requirements of 29 Section 9-03.12(3) Gravel Backfill for Pipe Zone Bedding and store for use as trench 30 backfill. Prior to placement, the Engineer shall approve native material for trench 31 backfill. 32 33 During removal operations for existing stormwater pipe the Contractor shall be 34 responsible for temporary diversion of stormwater flows in accordance with Section 35 8-01.3(1)C. The Contractor shall maintain existing drainage until the new drainage 36 system is completely installed and functioning to the satisfaction of the Engineer. 37 38 Where trenches, holes and pits overlap with or are adjacent to the trenches for 39 proposed pipe or drainage Structure installation, backfill shall be in accordance with 40 the applicable trench restoration detail referenced in the Plans. Other trenches, 41 holes, and pits shall be backfilled with material meeting Section 9-03.12(3) Gravel 42 Backfill for Pipe Zone Bedding. Native backfill material meeting Section 9-03.12(3) 43 may be used if approved by the Engineer prior to placement. Backfill shall be placed 44 at the Contractor’s expense. 45 46 Voids left by the removal of Structures and pipes shall be backfilled with a granular 47 material and compacted in accordance with Section 2-03.3(14)C. 48 49 All materials removed shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be 50 disposed of outside the project limits. 51
