Under some 42 circumstances, it may be necessary to excavate soils with a backhoe to minimize 43 subgrade disturbance caused by equipment traffic. 44 45 Material used as excavation backfill in wet conditions should consist of clean granular soil 46 with less than 5 percent passing the U.S. No. 200 sieve, based on wet sieving the fraction 47 passing the ¾-inch sieve. The fines should be non-plastic. It should be noted this is an 48 additional restriction on the structural fill materials specified. 49 50
