Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement November 2023 95 The ground surface within the construction area should be graded to promote surface 1 water run-off and to prevent ponding. 2 3 Within the construction area, the ground surface should be sealed on completion of each 4 shift by a smooth drum vibratory roller, or equivalent, and under no circumstances should 5 soil be left uncompacted and exposed to moisture infiltration. 6 7 Excavation and placement of backfill materials should be monitored by a geotechnical 8 engineer experienced in wet condition earthwork to determine that the work is being 9 accomplished in accordance with the project specifications and the recommendations 10 contained herein. 11 12 Construction Related Slope Instability Mitigation and Repair 13 Construction related slope instability mitigation and repair, as ordered by the Engineer, 14 consists of Work not otherwise provided for in the Contract. Such Work may include: 15 1. Shoring or extra excavation as directed by the Engineer in order to mitigate potential 16 slope failures. 17 2. Removal and replacement of soil with the potential to cause slope failure. 18 3. Repair of unanticipated slope failures caused by construction. 19 Methods and equipment used in construction related slope instability mitigation and repair 20 shall be approved by the Engineer. 21 22 2-03.5.GR2 23 Payment 24 25 2-02.5.INST1.GR2 26 Section 2-03.5 is supplemented with the following: 27 28 2-03.5.OPT1.DOCX 29 (******) 30 “FA-Construction Related Slope Instability Mitigation and Repair”, by force account as 31 provided in Section 1-09.6. 32 To provide a common Proposal for all Bidders, the Contracting Agency has entered an 33 amount in the Proposal to become a part of the Contractor’s total Bid. 34 35
