Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement November 2023 167 include resetting existing monuments that are destroyed by the construction or setting 1 new survey monuments as part of the Project, in accordance with City of Everett Standard 2 Drawing No. 323, 324, 325. 3 4 All survey monument Work shall be done by a Professional Land Surveyor licensed in the 5 State of Washington under the provisions of RCW 18.43.020. All survey monument Work 6 done by the Contractor shall conform to the requirements of RCW 58.09.120 and 7 58.09.130. Removal and replacement of GLO or Geodetic Control monuments shall 8 conform to the requirements of WAC 332-120. 9 10 The Contractor shall complete the requirements for referencing monuments to the NAD 11 83-11 horizontal datum by completing a control survey which references the Contracting 12 Agency’s NAD 83-11 survey control monuments. This control survey procedure and 13 reference monument selection must be approved by the Engineer prior to beginning this 14 Work. Also, all survey field notes for the control survey must be recorded in a Contracting 15 Agency supplied field book and returned to the Engineer at the completion of the Work. 16 The surveyor must punch the original monument position stamp with its surveyor’s license 17 number as required in RCW 58.09.120 on the brass cap of each monument set. The 18 surveyor shall also stamp the Contracting Agency supplied monument number on each 19 monument set. All monument survey Work shall be coordinated with and approved by 20 the Engineer before final payment is made to the Contractor. After installation of the 21 monument, a Completion Report must be filed with the Washington State 22 Department of Natural Resources as required in WAC 332-120-060. 23 24 The surveyor shall provide at least four reference points in the vicinity of the monuments 25 that are likely to be impacted by construction. The location of these reference points will 26 be outside the construction Work and shall be coordinated with the Contractor and 27 approved by the Engineer prior to surveying. These reference points shall be set by the 28 Contractor’s Professional Land Surveyor in advance of construction for the purpose of 29 resetting the monuments, including the monument case and cover, at the completion of 30 the construction Work. 31 32 The Contractor shall carefully protect all reference points to the monuments and shall 33 avoid destruction of the points. Any survey Work required to reset destroyed or lost 34 reference points shall be paid for by the Contractor. 35 36 8-13.3(2) Adjusting Monument Cases 37 The monument case and cover shall be adjusted either by removing and resetting the 38 case, or by installing riser rings between the case and cover. 39 40 Prior to planing operations, the Contractor shall vertically adjust the monument case and 41 cover below the limits for planing bituminous pavement. After paving operations are 42 complete, the Contractor shall vertically adjust the monument case and cover to finished 43 grade. The Contractor shall be responsible for referencing the location of the monument 44 case and cover for locating after paving is complete. The adjusted elevation of the frame 45 and cover shall be from 0 inches to 1/8 inches below the level of the finished asphalt 46 pavement. The case and cover shall be cleaned prior to being reset. 47 48 The Contractor shall use care to avoid disturbing the monument inside the monument 49 case. Any damage or disturbance to the monument as a result of the Contractor’s 50 operations shall be repaired and reset to its original position at no cost to the Contracting 51 Agency. 52
