The edges of the existing asphalt and castings shall <br />2 also be painted with the tack coat. The HMA pavement shall then be placed, leveled, <br />3 and compacted to conform to the surface of the existing HMA. Immediately thereafter, <br />4 all joints between the new and original asphalt pavement shall be painted with CSS- <br />5 1 asphalt emulsion and covered with dry sand before the asphalt solidifies. <br />6 <br />7 Asphalt shall be compacted to 92% of maximum density as determined by WSDOT <br />8 Test Method 705. <br />9 <br />10 5-06.3(4) HMA on Granular Base <br />11 <br />12 After the Crushed Surfacing Top Course subgrade has been leveled and compacted, <br />13 HMA Class ‰ Page 64-22 shall be placed to a thickness of 1" greater than the <br />14 existing asphalt pavement depth or to a minimum of 3", whichever is greater. Asphalt <br />15 shall be compacted to 92% of maximum density as determined by WSDOT Test <br />16 Method 705. <br />17 <br />18 5-06.3(5) Untreated Roadway Surfaces <br />19 <br />20 Existing crushed rock, gravel, and oil mat streets shall be restored with Crushed <br />21 Surfacing Top Course to a compacted depth of 4" within the neat lines of the trench. <br />22 Crushed surfacing shall be mixed, placed, spread and shaped in accordance with the <br />23 requirements of Section 4-04 of the Standard Specifications. <br />24 <br />25 5-06.3(6) Temporary Pavement Patching <br />26 <br />27 The Contractor shall furnish, place and maintain temporary pavement patching, at <br />28 locations as directed by the Engineer, until such time as a permanent patch of <br />29 permanent paving can be made. <br />30 <br />31 Temporary pavement patch shall consist of a 2" thick course of cold mix asphalt (MC <br />32 250) over a 4" course of Crushed Surfacing Top Course. The crushed surfacing top <br />33 course shall be compacted to 95% maximum density as determined by WSDOT test <br />34 method No. 606. Asphalt shall be compacted to 90% of maximum density as <br />35 determined by WSDOT Test Method 705. <br />36 <br />37 Temporary asphalt patching shall be required where roadway or walk is needed for <br />38 vehicular or pedestrian traffic, during the construction period, until permanent <br />39 pavement and sidewalks can be constructed. <br />40 <br />41 In the event that the temporary surface subsides after the initial placement, additional <br />42 MC 250 and crushed surfacing shall be applied to maintain the surface. <br />43 <br />44 Stockpile of plant mix and crushed surfacing for temporary patching shall be provided <br />45 on the site by the Contractor. <br />46 <br />47 Prior to final restoration of the pavement, the Contractor shall be responsible for <br />48 removing and disposing of temporary pavement patching materials. <br />49 <br />50 5-06.3(7) Incidental Pavement Patching <br />51
