For line drilling provide minimum 1-inch and maximum 2-inch <br />clearance around the circumference of the pipe. Core drill opening to accept a <br />watertight flexible pipe to manhole connection in accordance with manufacturer’s <br />recommendations. Place upstream pipes, except PVC and HDPE pipe, penetrating <br />the manhole walls with the bell facing out and snug against the outside wall of the <br />structure as the angle of penetration allows. Provide a flexible joint within 1/2 of a <br />pipe diameter or 12-inches, whichever is greater for pipe, except PVC and HDPE <br />pipe, leaving or entering manholes. <br />Place pipes entering or leaving the manhole on firmly compacted bedding. Take <br />particular care in compacting bedding within the area of the manhole excavation <br />that is normally deeper than the sewer trench. Take special care to ensure the <br />annual opening around each pipe entering the manhole is completely and firmly <br />rammed full of non-shrink grout to ensure water tightness. Non-shrink grout shall <br />conform to requirements of 9-03.20.3(2) of the Standard Specifications. <br />Provide a watertight flexible pipe to manhole connector for pipe diameters less than <br />or equal to 24-inches for PVC or HDPE pipes connecting to manhole. Place no <br />PVC or HDPE pipe joint within 10-feet of the outside face of the manhole. <br />7-05.3(4) Drop Manhole Connections <br />Delete the first paragraph in 7-05.3(4) and substitute the following: <br />Construct outside drop connections where shown on Plans in accordance with <br />these Special Provisions and 7-04, 7-05, and 7-17 of the Standard Specifications <br />and COE Standard Drawing No. 612. <br />Construct inside drop connections where shown on the Plans, or as approved by <br />Engineer, in 54-inch diameter manholes or larger in accordance with these Special <br />Provisions and 7-04, 7-05, and 7-17 of the Standard Specifications and COE <br />Standard Drawing No. 613. <br />Provide factory installed holes for drop connections for new manholes and core drill <br />holes for existing manholes. Impact tools shall not be allowed for making holes in <br />manhole walls. <br />Supplement 7-05.3 by adding the following: <br />7-05.3(5) Furnish and Install Solid Lid for Catch Basins <br />(******) <br />Provide new solid lids on existing catch basins where shown on the Plans. Provide <br />solid lids conforming to 9-05.15 of the Standard Specifications, 9-05.15(1) of these <br />Special Provisions, and to COE Standard Drawing No. 406 and 410 for Type 1 and <br />1-L Catch Basins and COE Standard Drawing 611 for Type 2 Catch Basins. <br /> <br />7-05.3(6) Flow Splitter Modification <br />The Flow Splitter Modification includes removing existing pipes and a gate valve in <br />accordance with the Plans. This includes, but is not limited to removing existing pipes <br />and a gate valve and replacing the structure concrete top and grate. After modifications, <br />low flows including the water quality design flowrate, shall be conveyed into the existing <br />24-inch diameter pipe heading to the south and high flows shall be conveyed by the <br />existing 24-inch diameter bypass pipe heading to the southeast with new the structure <br />top and grate in accordance with the Plans. The hole around the new 12-inch pipe shall <br />include a gasket and be filled with brick, grouted and watertight. The distances to the <br />reduced shall be as shown in the plans. <br /> <br />Catch basin locking frame and grate conforming to 9-05.15 of the Standard <br />Specifications and to COE Standard Drawing No. 406, 407, and 409.
