CITY OF EVERETT
Public Works Department
March 19, 2019
Owner: Wilkinson
Job Address: 1511 Oakes Ave,
Plan Check No: C1810-003
RE: Building Permit Review Letter
Dear Mr. Vital,
In response to the application for a building permit, the plans have been examined and you are
advised that revisions may be necessary before a permit can be issued. Please review and
respond to the comments below.
All items in the previous correction letter (listed below) are required to be
addressed prior to a building permit being issued.
The structure in its current condition is subject to condemnation if the corrections
listed below are not addressed.
1. Provide an evaluation of the existing structure, specifically the area of the vaulted
ceiling, prepared by a licensed engineer for wind and seismic loading of the existing
configuration and the gravity calculations from the additional load of the roof trusses in
the proposed addition.
2. Show how the vaulted ceiling in the existing residence is ventilated, and insulated.
3. Projections (cantilevers and roof overhang) in the five foot side yard setback are
required to be one-hour fire-resistance rated construction on the under side of the
projection with no openings allowed. Show how the vaulted area of the residence is
provided with one-hour fire-resistance rated construction. This would also include the
overhang in the area of the vaulted ceiling of the existing residence.
4. Provide detail of fire blocking at concealed spaces of furred walls in the lower level.
5. Walls located in the five-foot side yard setback are required to be one-hour fire-
resistance rated construction. Finishing the basement in the existing structure triggers
the requirement for one-hour fire-resistance rated construction on the south wall.
6. Provide minimum 36-inch landing not more than 7-3/4 inches below the finished floor at
all entrance/exits. Show on plans.
3200 Cedar Street S
425.257.8976 O jheihnan@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov
