City of Everett, WA IMEG #24000280.11
August 21, 2024 Page 2 of 4
5. The water heater scheduled on sheet M4 does not contain the information required per
C404.2. Water heaters shall be air -source heat pump type per C404.2.1, or note the exception
used. Please revise.
IMEG Response: Refer to exception 1 under C404.2.1 which applies to the water heater within
this project. The specified water heater is 2 kW, well below the specified maximum of 24 kW
plus 0.1 watts per SF of building area. This project is the first tenant within this building so the
total amount of elecptric resistance water heating within the building upon completion of this
project will be 2kW, again, well below the maximum limits set forth by Section C404.2.1,
exception 1.
6. Revise ventilation calculations per 2021 energy code and 2021 Washington Mechanical Code, or
provide an explanation in your response letter.
IMEG Response: Ventilation calculations were revised per 2021 code series. Refer to drawing
M5.
7. Please confirm that the ventilation system design is or is not providing heat per WSEC C403.7.3.
IMEG Response: The existing energy recovery ventilator, which provides ventilation air to the
space, is not equipped with supplemental heating as defined in C403.3.5.5 or C403.7.3. The
energy recovery ventilator is equipped with a plate and frame heat exchanger and no
supplemental means of heating or cooling.
8. Energy code mechanical requirements, sheet M10
IMEG Response: Note that with the addition of the commissioning specifications, this
sheet is now sheet M11.
a. page 1 of 25 — Please identify the location of the calculations per C403.1.2.
IMEG Response: Cooling and heating load calculations have been provided as a
supplement to this re -submittal. Please refer to separate attachment.
page 2 of 25 — Drawings do not clearly indicate required information per C403.3.1,
C403.3.2 and or C403.9.1. Pleaser clearly indicate where this information is located on
the drawings.
IMEG Response: For C403.3.11 refer the cooling and heating load calculations provided
as a separate attachment to this re -submittal and the cooling and heating capacities
listed within the VRF Unit Schedule on Sheet M4. For C403.3.2, refer to VRF Unit
Schedule on Sheet M4 and ventilation calculations on Sheet M5. Note that the VRF
condensing unit is an existing piece of equipment that was provided under the core/shell
scope of work under a separate permit and would not be subject to efficiency
requirements as it is not being provided or modified under the scope of this project.
c. page 3 of 25 — DOAS is required in the 2021 Energy Code. Please clarify your response
to C403.3.5, C403.5.4, C403.3.5.1, C403.3.5.1, and revise the design accordingly.
IMEG Response: The existing energy recovery ventilator serves as the DOAS system
with energy recovery. This section of the energy compliance documentation was
previously marked as NA because this system is existing and not specified within the
scope of this project. The energy compliance documentation has been revised to include
the DOAS sections, with notes as required referring to the system being existing. For
additional information on the energy recovery ventilator, an Existing Energy Recovery
Ventilator Schedule has been added to drawing M3
d. page 9 of 25 — Please provide dampers per WSEC C403.7.8, C403.7.8.3. and C403.7.8.4.
9k
