Keep intersections open to traffic at all times, except when paving or planing 1 <br />operations through an intersection requires closure. Such closure must be kept 2 <br />to the minimum time required to place and compact the HMA mixture, or plane 3 <br />as appropriate. For paving, schedule such closure to individual lanes or portions 4 <br />thereof that allows the traffic volumes and schedule of traffic volumes required in 5 <br />the approved traffic control plan. Schedule work so that adjacent intersections 6 <br />are not impacted at the same time and comply with the traffic control restrictions 7 <br />required by the Contracting Agency. Each individual intersection closure or 8 <br />partial closure, must be addressed in the traffic control plan, which must be 9 <br />submitted to and accepted by the Engineer, see Section 1 -10.2(2). 10 <br />b. When planing or paving and related construction must occur in an 11 <br />intersection, schedule and sequence such work into quarters of the intersection, 12 <br />or half or more of an intersection with side street detours unless otherwise 13 <br />directed by the Engineer. Be prepared to sequence the work to individual lanes 14 <br />or portions thereof. 15 <br />c. Allow new compacted HMA asphalt to cool to ambient temperature before 16 <br />any traffic is allowed on it. Traffic is not allowed on newly placed asphalt until 17 <br />approval has been obtained from the Engineer. 18 <br />2. Temporary centerline marking, post-paving temporary marking, temporary stop 19 <br />bars, and maintaining temporary pavement marking must comply with Section 8-20 <br />23. 21 <br />3. Permanent pavement marking must comply with Section 8 -22. 22 <br /> 23 <br /> 24 <br />5-04.3(15) Vacant 25 <br /> 26 <br />5-04.3(16) HMA Road Approaches 27 <br />HMA approaches shall be constructed at the locations shown in the Plans or where 28 <br />staked by the Engineer. The Work shall be performed in accordance with Section 5 -04. 29 <br /> 30 <br />5-04.4 Measurement 31 <br />“Planing Bituminous Pavement (2” Deep)”, shall be measured by the square yard. 32 <br /> 33 <br />“HMA Class ½”, PG 64-22”, shall be measured by the ton. 34 <br /> 35 <br />5-04.5 Payment 36 <br />Payment will be made in accordance with Section 1 -04.1, for each of the following bid 37 <br />items that are included in the proposal: 38 <br /> 39 <br />“HMA Class ½” PG 64-22”, per ton. 40 <br /> 41 <br />The unit contract price per ton for “HMA Class ½” PG 64 -22”, shall be full compensation 42 <br />for all costs incurred to carry out the requirements of Section 5 -04 except for those costs 43 <br />included in other items which are included in the sub -section and which are included in 44 <br />the proposal. 45 <br /> 46 <br />All costs for “Asphalt Tack Coat”, “Anti Stripping Additive”, “Compaction Adjustment” and 47 <br />“Joint Sealing Transverse Joints in Paving” shall be included in the unit contract price per 48 <br />ton for “HMA Class ½” PG 64-22”, per ton. 49
