2.3 Industrial Activity,Materials Inventory,and Associated Pollutants
There are no processes that occur at this facility that generate water. The majority of the hazardous materials
at the site are associated with the distribution of fuels which contain petroleum hydrocarbon constituents.
There is no truck washing conducted at the site, and vehicle fueling is conducted beneath canopies on concrete
paved pads.Any spill which might occur would be observed and immediate control measures are implemented
to retain the spilled material.
Fuel loading/unloading areas are potential sources of pollutants as summarized in Table 3. Unless an
uncontrolled spill event occurs,no petroleum hydrocarbons have a reasonable potential to be released from the
facility. Routine operations at the site are not prone to equipment failures sufficient to release a significant
quantity of hazardous material.Facility personnel are trained to conduct daily inspections of the tanks for leaks.
Table 3
Areas of the Site Where Potential Spills Leaks Could Occur
Location Associated Pollutants Outfall
Nelson Petroleum—Storage Gasoline, Diesel, Oil, and Oil Water Separator 2 or 3
and Distribution of Fuel Kerosene Oil Stop Valve Box
- Truck Operation/Fuel Turbidity, oil, tire and brake copper 4,500-gal containment vault
and Oil and zinc Periodic manual pumping and
- Sheet flow of water from disposal off-site by Marine
NE to SW Vacuum Service
- Turbidity,oil,tire and
brake copper
Pac Pride — Cardlock Gasoline, and Diesel Fuel, Oil Water Separator 1
Distribution of Fuel Oil and hydraulic fluid Oil Stop Valve Box
- Sheet flow of water from Turbidity, oil, tire and brake copper 4,500-gal containment vault
NE to SW and zinc Periodic manual pumping and
- Turbidity,oil,tire and disposal off-site by Marine
brake copper Vacuum Service
2.4 Areas of Site Where Potential Spills/Leaks Could Occur
The facility has not had a reportable spill within the past three years (<5-gallons). Information regarding
reportable spills is recorded using a form attached to the IDPP. Figure 2 illustrates the specific outfalls from
each of the storm drainage collection vaults at the site. All surface water from the site is collected in one of
the oil/water separators and directed to the 4,500-gallon containment vault.
