DIVISION 08 MISCELLANEOUS CONSTRUCTION <br /> 8-01 EROSION CONTROL AND WATER POLLUTION <br /> 8-01.1 Description <br /> Section 8-01.1 is supplemented with the following: <br /> The Contractor shall be responsible for meeting the requirements of all Permits <br /> and comply with applicable standards, including but not limited to implementing, <br /> inspecting, and filing reports, maintaining, replacing, and removing Temporary <br /> Erosion and Sediment controls (TESC), and Spill Prevention, Control, and <br /> Countermeasure (SPCC) measures. All reporting requirements are incidental to <br /> the described items and no additional measurement and payment will be made. <br /> Products used shall be at the Contractor's discretion as long as compliance with <br /> these standards are met. Installation method and removal shall be per <br /> manufacturer's recommendations. Measures shall be periodically monitored for <br /> performance and sediment accumulation. The cost of said monitoring, <br /> maintenance and removal shall be incidental to the unit bid price for this item. The <br /> Contractor shall be responsible for removal and proper disposal of temporary <br /> measures prior to applying any final restoration. <br /> This work shall consist of implementation and maintenance of erosion and <br /> sediment controls before, during and following construction and in accordance with <br /> Section 1-07.15 as amended in the Special Provisions. Work shall include the <br /> furnishing and delivery of all required materials; installing and maintaining all <br /> temporary and permanent erosion and sedimentation control measures; preparing <br /> slopes; seeding, fertilizing, and mulching; and temporary covering of graded <br /> slopes, disturbed areas, and stockpile areas in accordance with these <br /> Specifications, as shown on the Contract Drawings or as designated by the <br /> Engineer. These facilities shall be upgraded as needed for unexpected storm <br /> events, slow construction progress or to accommodate special construction <br /> practices. The Contractor shall implement these and any additional practices and <br /> facilities to prevent the transport of sediment from the project. <br /> If sediment laden water which is in violation of applicable water quality standards <br /> leaves the site, then the erosion control measures are inadequate and additional <br /> maintenance or facilities are required. <br /> The Contractor shall not allow the area of work to exceed its ability to adequately <br /> prevent sediment from leaving the project site. <br /> Alderwood Water&Wastewater District <br /> W2301 Trans Main 1 &2 Valve Replacement 9-01/1 Contract No. W2301 <br /> October 2023 <br />
