1.08 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING: <br /> A. Contractor shall comply with Section 01600 - Equipment and Material Storage and <br /> manufacturer's guidelines regarding the delivery, storage and handling of all materials that are <br /> used or incorporated into the roofing system. <br /> 1.09 PROJECT CONDITIONS: <br /> A. Refer to Section 01 5000 - Use of Owner's Facilities. <br /> B. Environmental Requirements: <br /> 1. Install roofing materials only when surfaces are clean, dry, smooth, and free of moisture of <br /> any kind. <br /> 2. Do not apply roofing during wet weather or when ambient temperature, including wind chill <br /> factor, is below the manufacturer's recommended application temperature. <br /> 3. Wind velocity and temperature limitations shall be based on Contractor's ability to apply <br /> materials in the specified manner. <br /> 4. Contractor is responsible for removing asbestos containing materials according to <br /> applicable Local, State, and Federal laws and regulations. <br /> C. Protection: <br /> 1. Install temporary insulation seal-offs at completion of each day's work and completely <br /> remove upon resumption of work. <br /> 2. Install materials in manner that will prevent drippage of adhesive materials into the <br /> building. <br /> 3. Coordinate application of membrane to protect underlying materials from wetting or other <br /> damage by the elements on a continuous basis. <br /> 4. Protect existing and finished work with a layer of 1.5"roof insulation (does not have to be <br /> new) and 5/8"" plywood for storing material and temporary traffic surfaces. <br /> D. Waste Products: <br /> 1. Do not allow petroleum, grease, oil, solvents, vegetable or mineral oil, animal fat or direct <br /> steam venting to come in contact with membrane system. <br /> 2. Take precautions as recommended by manufacturer with highly flammable materials <br /> including cements, bonding adhesives, caulkings, cut-backs, and cleaners. <br /> E. Existing Conditions: <br /> 1. If discrepancies are discovered between the existing conditions and those noted on the <br /> drawings, immediately notify the owner's representative by phone, and solicit the <br /> manufacturer's approval prior to commencing with the work. Necessary steps shall be <br /> taken to make the building watertight until the discrepancies are resolved <br /> 2. The roofing contractor shall be responsible for verification of all building dimensions and <br /> number and location of roof top units and penetrations. <br /> 3. The roofing contractor shall coordinate the installation of mechanical equipment, roof <br /> drains, and other items that affect the roof so that units are properly set, and the roof is not <br /> damaged. Make roof and flashing repairs as necessary and advise the consultant and <br /> owner's representative in writing of all potential leaks that may be caused by other trades. <br /> 4. Verify that steel weld plates for the steel bar joists or wall expansion joints will not interfere <br /> with the base flashings. If necessary, contractor shall furnish and install extra protection <br /> over the protrusions and secure the bridged membrane with a termination bar and seal all <br /> edges watertight. <br /> 1.10 WARRANTY: <br /> A. Manufacturer's Warranty: <br /> 1. Provide manufacturer's thirty (30) year written project warranty covering materials. <br /> 2.
