Norex by Norton Performance Plastics Corp., Wayne, New Jersey. <br /> 4. or approved equal <br /> 2.04 FABRICATION, GENERAL <br /> A. Sheet Metal Fabrication Standard: Fabricate sheet metal flashing and trim to comply with <br /> recommendations of SMACNA's "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual"that apply to the design, <br /> dimensions, metal, and other characteristics of the item indicated. <br /> B. Comply with details shown to fabricate sheet metal flashing and trim that fit substrates and <br /> result in waterproof and weather-resistant performance once installed. Verify shapes and <br /> dimensions of surfaces to be covered before fabricating sheet metal. Size metal caps, <br /> scuppers, coping, etc. after membrane flashings have been installed. <br /> C. Form exposed sheet metal Work that is without excessive oil canning, buckling, and tool marks <br /> and that is true to line and levels indicated, with exposed edges folded back to form hems. <br /> D. Seams: Fabricate nonmoving seams in sheet metal with flat-lock seams. Tin edges to be <br /> seamed, form seams, and solder. Apply high velocity duct sealant to coat solder joints where <br /> indicated. <br /> E. Separate metal from noncompatible metal or corrosive substrates by coating concealed <br /> surfaces at locations of contact with asphalt mastic or other permanent separation as <br /> recommended by manufacturer. <br /> F. Conceal fasteners and expansion provisions where possible. Exposed fasteners are not <br /> allowed on faces of sheet metal exposed to public view. <br /> G. Fabricate cleats and attachment devices from same material as sheet metal component being <br /> anchored or from compatible, noncorrosive metal recommended by sheet metal manufacturer. <br /> Gauges shall be in accordance with the SMACNA manual for fabrication. <br /> 2.05 SHEET METAL ROOF ACCESSORIES <br /> A. General: Fabricate sheet metal items in thickness or weight needed to comply with <br /> performance requirements but not less than that listed below for each application and metal. <br /> B. Metal Accessories: Provide sheet metal clips, straps, anchoring devices, and similar accessory <br /> units as required for installation of Work, matching or compatible with material being installed; <br /> noncorrosive; size and thickness required for performance. <br /> C. Copings: Fabricate in minimum 96-inch- (2400-mm-) long, but not exceeding 10-foot- (3-m-) <br /> long, sections. Furnish with continuous cleats to support edge of external leg. Miter corners, <br /> seal, and seal watertight. <br /> 1. Fabricate from prefinished 24 gauge G-90 galvanized steel <br /> 2. Fabricate joints with a standing seam per detail drawings. <br /> D. Two-Piece Surface-Mounted Counterflashing: <br /> 1. Shall be 2 piece reglet surface-mounted type with expansion slots spaced a minimum 16" <br /> on center fabricated from minimum 26 gauge G-90 galvanized flat sheet. <br /> 2. Provide shop fabricated 26 gauge counterflashing to suit existing job conditions to <br /> accommodate profile of plywood backer board and new base flashing. <br /> 3. Provide 1"wide, 24 gauge G.S. wind clips, spaced 36" on center minimum. <br /> E. One-Piece Slip Flashing: <br /> 1. Shall be minimum 26 gauge G-90 galvanized steel counterflashing, shop fabricated with a <br /> minimum '/2" hemmed edge 180 degrees. <br /> 2. Lap joints and mitered corners shall be interlocked and sealed with gun-grade butyl <br /> sealant.
