Geotechnical Engineering Report-Revised lrerracon
Kaiser Everett Medical Center Everett,Washington -- s--- y
December 18, 2019 Terracon Project No. 81195071 GeOReporf
Boring Number Approximate Depth to Groundwater while Drilling (feet)
B-01-19 15
B-02-19 10
B-03-19 30
B-05-19 10
B-07-19 26
B-04-19, B-06-19, B-08-19, B-09-
not encountered 19
1. Below ground surface
2. Inferred from change in sample moisture or from evidence of free water on drilling equipment
3. Likely perched water
No static groundwater table was observed while drilling and the depths recorded above are
interpreted as perched groundwater or wet lenses within the dense to very dense glacial till unit.
Groundwater was not observed in the B-04, B-06, B-08 and B-09 borings while drilling. The soil types
present at the site are often associated with perched groundwater in which the vertical infiltration of
water is slowed by low permeability layers.
Groundwater level fluctuations occur due to seasonal variations in the amount of rainfall, runoff
and other factors not evident at the time the borings were performed. Therefore, groundwater
levels during construction or at other times in the life of the structure may be higher or lower than
the levels indicated on the boring logs. The possibility of groundwater level fluctuations should be
considered when developing the design and construction plans for the project.
GEOTECHNICAL OVERVIEW
The origin, history, and placement conditions of existing fill is not known and no documentation
of the placement of the existing fill is available to us. The composition of these fill soils is
anticipated to be highly variable and may contain organics and/or debris which may render some
portions of the soil unsuitable and not appropriate for reuse. It may be possible that upper portions
of the noted weathered glacial till layer may be composed of reworked weathered glacial till. We
recommend that all existing fill, if encountered, be removed beneath the proposed building.
Existing fill beneath future pavements should also be removed, but the depth may be limited to a
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable
