boundaries of the site(s). Provide a legal description, site plan, vicinity map, and topographic
map, if reasonably available. While you should submit any plans required by the agency, you
are not required to duplicate maps or detailed plans submitted with any permit applications
related to this checklist.
The site is located at the east terminus of 8th Street in the business park,
which in turn is accessed via an entrance from Marine View Drive
approximately 200 feet east of its intersection with SR 529 The site is
located in the Southeast quarter of Section 9 of Township 29 North,
Range 5 East, W.M.
B. ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
1. Earth
a. General description of the site:
(circle one): Flat, rolling, hilly, steep slopes, mountainous, other: Mostly flat with a soil
stockpile on a portion of the lot.
b. What is the steepest slope on the site (approximate percent slope)?
The steepest slope is roughly five percent on the slopes of the stockpile.
c. What general types of soils are found on the site (for example, clay, sand, gravel, peat,
muck)? If you know the classification of agricultural soils, specify them and note any
agricultural land of long-term commercial significance and whether the proposal results in
removing any of these soils.
Underlying soils (below the original Weyerhaeuser site) are primarily fill soils
placed to create the mill site. Additional fills have been added to the site, the
lastest in 2012, to create the grade on the site as it currently exists. The 2012 fill
created a soil stockpile that currently lies where the south end of the future
building will be, thus in effect "surcharging" the existing soils in that area to
accommodate future building foundation loads.
d. Are there surface indications or history of unstable soils in the immediate vicinity? If so,
describe.
No.
e. Describe the purpose, type, total area, and approximate quantities and total affected area of
any filling, excavation, and grading proposed. Indicate source of fill.
The existing site will be graded using materials currently existing on the site.
Mass grading of the site for final grade will result in a cut of approximately 29,500
cubic yards and a fill of 27,700 cubic yards.
SEPA Environmental checklist (WAC 197-11-960) July 2016 Page 4 of 17
