Footprint excavation for the building
should be excavated to at least 4.5 to 5.0 feet deep with the bottom of excavation reaching
the underlying, dense, advance outwash deposit. The exposed soil at bottom of excavation
should be thoroughly compacted to a non-yielding state with a vibratory mechanical
compactor. Standing water and loose disturbed soils in footing trenches should be
thoroughly removed down to dense native advance outwash soil prior to pouring concrete
for footing foundations.
If the above recommendations are implemented and observed, our recommended design
criteria for footing foundations are as follows:
LIU & ASSOCIATES, INC.
