2025 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />PW# 3830 <br /> SP-39 March 26, 2025 <br /> <br />*** 1 <br /> 2 <br />The services provided under the bid item “Uniformed Police Officer” shall be considered 3 <br />a subcontractor with the attendant requirements and responsibilities. 4 <br /> 5 <br />The Contractor must obtain prior approval for use of off-duty Uniformed Police Officers 6 <br />through an Approved Traffic Control Plan and approved amendments to the contract 7 <br />traffic control Plans. The off-duty Uniformed Police Officer shall be in addition to all other 8 <br />personnel required for flagging according to the approved traffic control plan. 9 <br /> 10 <br />A Uniformed Police Officer shall be provided in the event of accidental power outages or 11 <br />disruption of a signalized intersection as a result of Contractor’s Work and remain in place 12 <br />until the intersection becomes satisfactorily operational as determined by Agency Engineer 13 <br />or his/her representative. 14 <br /> 15 <br />The UPO shall be capable of issuing legal tickets for offenders and providing their Agency 16 <br />Police Vehicle with active light bars for night visibility. 17 <br /> 18 <br />COE 1-10.3(1)C.RTF 19 <br />COE 1-10.3(1)C.RTF 20 <br />(March 2, 2023 COE) 21 <br />Section 1-10.3(1) is added as follows: 22 <br /> 23 <br />1-10.3(1)C Uniformed Police Officer 24 <br />(******) 25 <br /> 26 <br />The Contractor shall provide commissioned uniformed police control at any time a 27 <br />signalized intersection is dark or inoperative, such as during grinding or paving 28 <br />operations where the traffic signal must be put into flashing operation. Signalized 29 <br />intersections shall not be police controlled between the hours of 6:00am and 8:30am 30 <br />nor 12:00pm to 7:30pm, unless directed by the Engineer. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Coordination of commissioned uniformed Police control shall be coordinated with the 33 <br />following personnel, listed in order of preference: 34 <br /> 35 <br />1.
