2025 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />PW# 3830 <br /> SP-69 March 26, 2025 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />1. General for both the Paving and Planing: 2 <br /> 3 <br />a. The actual times of starting and ending daily operations. 4 <br /> 5 <br />b. In intersections, how to break up the intersection, and address traffic control 6 <br />and signalization for that operation, including use of peace officers. 7 <br /> 8 <br />c. The sequencing and scheduling of paving operations and of planing operations, 9 <br />as applicable, as it relates to traffic control, public convenience and safety, and 10 <br />other Contractors who may operate in the Project limits. 11 <br /> 12 <br />d. Notifications required of Contractor activities and coordinating with other entities 13 <br />and the public as necessary. 14 <br /> 15 <br />e. Description of the sequencing of installation and types of temporary pavement 16 <br />markings as it relates to planning and paving. 17 <br /> 18 <br />f. Description of the sequencing of installation of, and the removal of, temporary 19 <br />pavement patch material around exposed castings and as may be needed. 20 <br /> 21 <br />g. Description of procedures and equipment to identify hidden metal in the 22 <br />pavement, such as survey monumentation, monitoring wells, streetcar rail, and 23 <br />castings, before planing as per Section 5-04.3(14)B2. 24 <br /> 25 <br />h. Description of how flaggers will be coordinated with the planing, paving, and 26 <br />related operations. 27 <br /> 28 <br />i. Description of sequencing of traffic controls for the process of rigid pavement 29 <br />base repairs. 30 <br /> 31 <br />j. Other items the Engineer deems necessary to address. 32 <br /> 33 <br />2. Paving – additional topics: 34 <br /> 35 <br />a. When to start applying tack and coordinating with paving. 36 <br /> 37 <br />b. Types of equipment and numbers of each type of equipment to be used. If 38 <br />more pieces of equipment than personnel are proposed, describe the 39 <br />sequencing of the personnel operating the types of equipment. Discuss the 40 <br />continuance of operator personnel for each type of equipment as it relates to 41 <br />meeting Specification requirements. 42 <br /> 43 <br />c.
