The loop locations shall be marked on the pavement by the contractor 23 <br />and approved by the engineer prior to sawcutting. At no point shall any 24 <br />of the sawcuts pass closer than 2' to any utility cover. 25 <br />2. Loop detector sealant shall be as shown in City of Everett Standard 26 <br />Drawing 809, or as approved by the Engineer. 27 <br />3. Rope is not required. 28 <br />4. Loops shall not be installed in rainy weather or at temperatures below 29 <br />40o. 30 <br />5. Loops shall be placed in the sawcut in a clockwise direction. 31 <br />6. The loop sealant shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's 32 <br />recommendations. 33 <br />7. Detector loop wire shall use 14 AWG stranded copper conductors, and 34 <br />shall conform to IMSA Specification 51-7, with cross-linked polyethylene 35 <br />(XLPE) insulation encased in a polyethylene outer jacket (PE tube). 36 <br />8. The area around the conduit stub-out shall be patched with hot mix 37 <br />asphalt concrete if it is greater than 2" in width. 38 <br />9. The sawcuts shall be of uniform depth and any sharp edges, abrasions 39 <br />or ridges shall be removed prior to placing the wire. 40 <br />10. The sawcut depth shall be a minimum of 3½" and shall provide a 41 <br />minimum of 2" cover above the loop wires. 42 <br />11. The sawcut width shall be a minimum of 1/4" for the loop and 3/8" for the 43 <br />home run. 44 <br />12. The sawcut shall be cleaned out with a high pressure water stream and 45 <br />then dried with compressed air prior to placing the wire. 46 <br />13. All splices between the loop wire and the loop lead-in cable shall be 47 <br />soldered and utilize a splice kit in conformance with Standard Drawing 48 <br />809. 49 <br />14. When the roadway is to be overlaid as a part of the project, the loops 50 <br />shall be installed prior to the final overlay. 51
