Property owners and businesses located on the same side of the street and on the 1 <br />same block may establish a grouped short term bicycle facility area where short-term 2 <br />bicycle facility solutfons may be implemented. 3 <br />i. These areas shall be located no further than 100 feet from the main entrance 4 <br />of each business or property they intend to serve. 5 <br />ii. The bicycle racks shall be accessible by a route that meets ADA Standards for 6 <br />Accessible Design. 7 <br />iii. Bicycle spaces shall meet all other relevant standards of this sectfon. 8 <br />g. An applicant may propose, and the Planning Director may approve, one or more of the 9 <br />following alternatfves if compliance with subsectfons EMC 19.34.160(a) through (f) are 10 <br />not practfcal or if the alternatfve would better meet the purpose of this sectfon: 11 <br />i. Short-term bicycle spaces in the right-of-way adjacent to the use. 12 <br />ii. On-site short-term bicycle spaces beyond fifty feet from a main entrance 13 <br />and/or at a secondary entrance when clearly visible from inside the building. 14 <br />iii. Short term bicycle spaces located at the rear of the building when clearly 15 <br />visible from within the building, for example when the rear of the building is on 16 <br />a natural path of travel from off-site. 17 <br />iv. Short term bicycle spaces located within the building and publicly accessible 18 <br />during operatfng hours. 19 <br />v. Other solutfons that meet the purpose of this sectfon. 20 <br />D. Long-term bicycle spaces. Long-term bicycle spaces provide employees, students, residents, 21 <br />commuters, and others who stay at a site for several hours with a secure and weather-protected space 22 <br />to park bicycles. 23 <br />1. Long-term bicycle spaces must be located on site or, when being provided cooperatfvely with 24 <br />other development(s), within three hundred feet of the subject site measured by path of travel 25 <br />2. Long-term bicycle spaces must be within a roofed structure or otherwise covered. The cover 26 <br />must be permanent, impervious, and must project out a minimum of two feet beyond the 27 <br />bicycle spaces, unless those spaces are also protected by an impervious wall. The shelter 28 <br />provided by bike lockers or bike hangers shall be considered sufficient cover. 29 <br />3. For residentfal development, long-term bicycle spaces required under Table 34-6 Bicycle 30 <br />Facilitfes, Required Counts and Figure 34-5 Bicycle Spaces, Dimensions must be in one of the 31 <br />following configuratfons: 32 <br />a. A lockable garage or shed dedicated exclusively to one or two residentfal dwelling 33 <br />units may fulfill the requirements for long-term bicycle space(s) for each of those one or 34 <br />two dwelling units. Plans shall indicate the locatfon for standard and/or oversize bicycle 35 <br />spaces but need not provide a rack or fixture. These need not be oversize spaces (but 36
