At points where the fire alarm semaphores are located, <br /> when the alarm bell rings or semaphore drops, all street cars and <br /> vehicles within sight or hearing of this alarm, shall follow the <br /> directions indicated above, and shall remain stopped until the <br /> alarm ceases ringing and the semaphore lifts, and then proceed only <br /> in the event that there is no fire apparatus approaching. <br /> Section 5: That Section 25 of said ordinance No. 1531, be, <br /> and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> STOP BA FORA STRAAT CAR. <br /> Section 25: It shall be unlawful for the driver or operator of any <br /> automobile, motorcycle,or other motor vehicle, or any vehicle, to <br /> pass the place where a street car is taking on or discharging pass- <br /> engers. Avery such driver or operator approaching a place where a <br /> street car is taking on or discharging passengers shall bring such <br /> automobile, motorcycle, or other motor vehicle, or vehicle, to a <br /> stop, not closer than ten feet of such place, and shall not start <br /> again until such car shall have taken on or discharged its passengers. <br /> Section 6: That Section 40 of said ordinance No. 1531, be, <br /> and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> STANDING NAAR CURB. <br /> Section 40: No vehicle shall remain standing upon any <br /> street at a greater distance than one foot from the curb, or in any <br /> other position than parallel to the curb and facing in the direction <br /> of traffic, and in no case within thirty-four feet of any fire hydrant <br /> or within ten feet of any street corner or street intersection; <br /> provided, that on streets where practicable, vehicles shall be per- <br /> mitted to remain standing diagonally to the curb facing in the <br /> direction of traffic, and the right front wheel of such vehicle shall <br /> be against the curb of such street, and such vehicle shall be placed <br /> in such position as not to interfere with traffic upon such street. <br />
