Environmental and Public Health Standards <br />• Create an urban public park surrounding the facility for year-round community use <br />• Invest in native landscaping and new tree canopy as part of street frontage improvements <br />and park spaces to support urban cooling and air quality <br />• Provide a wide array of attractive amenities that help all ages be physically active and <br />engaged <br />• Work to achieve LEED standards for environmentally-centered construction <br />• Promote the facility’s proximity to public transportation and encourage its use <br />• Prioritize the use of compostable packaging and utensils, and provide locally sourced food <br />whenever possible <br />• Require availability of adequate recycling and composting receptacles for visitors <br /> <br />4. Cultural and Educational Value <br />• Design opportunities for public art installations and educational spaces that highlight tribal <br />heritage and treaty rights across the landscape, and the city’s heritage of organized labor, <br />civil rights, and industrial accomplishments <br />• Seek opportunities to collaborate onsite with educational partners from local schools, non- <br />profit organizations, and workforce training programs <br />• Explore ways to create co-investment opportunities for cultural, educational, and <br />interpretive spaces <br /> <br />5.
