have been tested and approved by the Inspector of Buildings. <br /> (g) It shall be the duty of the Inspector of Buildings <br /> at least once in every twelve months to have made by a practical <br /> elevator inspector an examination of every passenger elevator that <br /> is not inspected by a liability company in good standing. The Inspeo- <br /> for of Buildings may require the owner or agent of any elevator to <br /> examine the same and make a report of its condition to the Inspect- <br /> or of Buildings. <br /> (h) Whenever any elevator or part thereof is found by <br /> the Inspector of Buildings to be unsafe, he shall close such elevator <br /> from service, and may disconnect the power supply from such elevator. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to put any such elevator so <br /> condemned into service until after all defects pertaining. thereto <br /> shall have been remedied and the elevator reinspected. <br /> Reinspection and approval or disapproval shall not be <br /> delayed for more than six hours after notice is received at the <br /> office of the Inspector of Buildings that such elevator is ready <br /> for inspection. <br /> (i) Every passenger elevator shall be tested at full <br /> speed going up and going down while carrying the maximum load allow- <br /> ed. <br /> Every passenger elevator shall be tested by reversing' at <br /> full speed going up and down without live load. Every passenger <br /> elevator shall be tested by running at full speed into top and <br /> bottom limit switches without live load. <br /> Every passenger elevator shall be tested by cutting it <br /> loose and allowing it to drop. An increase of not more than 50 <br /> per cent. in the velocity of the car beyond its fixed normal velocity <br /> shall operate the safety device and gradually bring the car to a <br /> stop within 6 feet 0 inches to 12 feet 0 inches after the safety <br /> device starts to operate. <br />
