Temporary and permanent thrust blocking and dead man blocks, and temporary and permanent <br />restraint systems. <br />5. Ethafoam pads or sand backfill between these installations and any existing watermains or other <br />pipes encountered. <br />6. Maintenance of existing watermain and provisions for interim water service. <br />7. Pressure and purity testing of all watermains and shall include providing temporary blow-offs, <br />backflow prevention, air gap apparatus, flushing, and disinfecting as necessary for testing in <br />accordance with 7-09.3(24) of these Special Provisions and COE Standard Drawing No. 526. <br />8. Extra depth, including excavation, backfill and compaction required to clear known buried utilities <br />or other known obstacles. <br />9. Abandonment of existing watermains as shown on the Plans, including cutting, draining water <br />and properly disposing, and plugging pipe at each end with a minimum of 2-feet of Commercial <br />concrete or CDF. Include the concrete or CDF work with this work with no direct compensation <br />being made. Abandon existing mains in place where possible. Include cost of removal, hauling, <br />and disposal of existing main with these Bid items when abandoning in place is not possible. <br />Include coordinating with City Utilities Department to operate existing valves and/or complete <br />taps, and plugging where noted, to be abandoned and removing the lids and valve boxes. <br />10. Work required to avoid unexpected or unforeseen obstacles shall be paid for under the Force <br />Account item. <br /> Gate Valve 8-IN <br />Measurement and Payment: Each (EA) <br />Measurements shall meet the requirements of 1-09.1. The unit contract price for Gate Valves, ___-Inch <br />shall constitute full compensation for all labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary and incidental <br />to furnish and install valves complete in place on the watermain, including but not limited to, dewatering; <br />removal and disposal of existing curb and gutter, and sidewalk; excavation, removal, hauling, and <br />disposal of excavated materials; furnishing, jointing, and installing valves and valve boxes with <br />extensions if necessary; installing temporary concrete thrust blocks; restraint systems; painting; flushing <br />and disinfecting; furnishing, installing, compacting, and testing bedding and backfill materials; <br />constructing asphalt concrete pad around valve box if necessary; cleanup; and any additional work, <br />materials, and equipment required to install the valves and assembly, except as included in other unit <br />price bids.. <br /> Hydrant Assembly <br />Measurement and Payment: Each (EA) <br />Measurements shall meet the requirements of 1-09.1. The unit cost shall include the tools, labor, <br />materials, and equipment to furnish and install fire hydrant assemblies, including the 6-inch DI hydrant <br />pipe including the lateral from the main, auxiliary gate valve, shackles, bends, valve box (including <br />final adjustment), restraints, concrete blocks, gravel, painting, and others required for the complete <br />installation of the hydrant assembly as specified. All excavation, backfill, and compaction necessary <br />to install the hydrant assembly shall be included in the unit contract price. <br /> Water Service, 1 Inch – Reconnect Existing <br />Measurement and Payment: Lump Sum (LS)
