1 DAPARTMANT OF PUBLIC WORKS. Section 9: There shall be the following named deputies and assistants in the office of the city engineer, to-wit: Assistant engineer, two draftsmen and computers , one instrument man, and one stenographer. Aach of the above named assistants shall perform the duties indicated by the name of his respective employment and such other duties as the city engineer shall from time to time authorize and determine. The city engineer shall have the right to employ the following named additional employees, with the consent of the commissioner of public works and whenever there is work in his office for such employees , the following, to-wit: Draftsmen, com- puters , draftsmen and computers , instrument men, rod men, chain men, axemen, inspectors. Such last named assistants and employees are to be employed only when the work in such office requires their employment, and are not permanent employees in such office. Section 10: There shall be the following named officer and assistants in the office of superintendent of streets , to-wit: Superintendent of streets , one foreman, three teamsters, two repair men, one barn loss , four day laborers , two sweepers. The superintend- ent of streets shall be the administrative head of this department. All of the above named assistants shall perform the duties indicated by the name of his respective employment and such other duties as the superintendent of streets shall from time to time authorize and determine. Section 11: There shall be in the office of the building inspector the following named officer, to-wit: Building inspector. It shall be the duty of said officer to perform the duties relating to said office as defined by the ordinances of the city, and s uch other duties as the commissioner of public works shall direct. Section 12: There shall be in the office of the plumbing inspector the following named officer, to-wit: plumbing inspector.
