EVERETT POLICE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION <br />PAGE 25 <br /> <br />15.2.B Independence Day <br /> <br />Employees may only use existing leave banks to take the Fourth of July holiday off with the <br />approval of a Deputy Chief or the Chief of Police. <br /> <br />Employees working the Fourth of July will choose from one of the following options: <br /> <br />Option A: <br />Workweek Requirement <br />During any pay period in which the Fourth of July holiday occurs, employees shall adjust <br />their schedules so that they work a total of eighty (80) hours, inclusive of the Fourth of <br />July. <br /> <br />Holiday Compensation <br />Employees who work on the Fourth of July shall receive compensatory time at the rate of <br />one and one-half (1.5) times the number of hours worked on the holiday. <br /> <br />Example: An employee who works ten (10) hours on the Fourth of July will receive fifteen <br />(15) hours of compensatory time, resulting in a total of ninety-five (95) compensated hours <br />for the pay period (eighty (80) hours of regular pay plus fifteen (15) hours of <br />compensatory time). <br /> <br />Work Beyond Scheduled Shift <br />Employees who work more than their scheduled hours on the Fourth of July shall receive <br />compensatory time at the rate of two and one-half (2.5) times the hours worked beyond <br />the scheduled shift. <br /> <br />Option B: <br /> Workweek Requirement <br />During any pay period in which the Fourth of July holiday occurs, employees shall work <br />their regular schedule. <br /> <br />Holiday Compensation <br />Employees who work on the Fourth of July shall receive compensatory time at the rate of <br />one and one-half (1.5) times the number of hours worked on the holiday. <br /> <br />Example: <br />An employee who works their regular schedule of eighty (80) hours during the pay period <br />and then works ten (10) additional hours on the Fourth of July will receive fifteen (15) <br />hours of compensatory time, resulting in a total of ninety-five (95) compensated hours for <br />the pay period (eighty (80) hours of regular pay plus fifteen (15) hours of compensatory <br />time). <br /> <br />Regardless of the number of hours worked on the Fourth of July, employees shall receive <br />compensatory time at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) times the hours worked. <br />
