PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Demolition and Salvage <br />Project No. 180162 02 41 00 - 4 <br /> <br />1.07 KIMBERLY CLARK SITE DEMOLITIONS (NORTON TERMINAL) <br />A. Based on review of available record drawings, the Contractor will encounter building <br />foundations remaining below ground from the former Kimberly-Clark site demolition to <br />construct the Norton Terminal facilities, including: reinforced concrete, steel and timber <br />piles; timber walls; and concrete slabs, grade beams and vaults. The approximate <br />footprint of these remnant structural foundations is shown in the Drawings. <br />B. In addition to the demolitions and replacement of above grade Port improvements, the <br />Contractor shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of reinforced concrete <br />foundations, steel and timber piles, and other abandoned below grade improvements <br />within the trench and excavation limits as required to complete the Work. <br />1. Demolish existing reinforced concrete foundations, slabs and grade beams, steel and <br />timber piles as required to complete the Work. <br />a. Demolish and dispose of existing concrete reinforced foundations and grade <br />beams in their entirety. Floor slabs are approximately 2’-6” thick (typ). <br />b. Remove and dispose of existing timber piles in accordance with the Washington <br />Department of Natural Resources Derelict Pile Removal Best Management <br />Practices for Pile Removal and Disposal and EPA Best Management Practices for <br />Piling Removal and Placement in Washington State. <br />c. Remove and dispose of existing H‐pile within the limits of the trench and access <br />pit excavations. Piles are anticipated to be 5-foot on center with top elevations <br />between 11’ to 14’ feet of elevation and lengths greater than 30- to 50-feet <br />within the limits shown. <br />1) H-piles outside of the trench excavation that impact construction activities <br />will be the responsibility of the contractor to remove as necessary at <br />contractor's expense. <br />2) Demolition should include pre-digging, characterization and removal of <br />materials as required to demolish foundations and piles, pile removal <br />including removal by vibratory pile driver and crane, transportation and <br />disposal. <br />d. Partial removal or cutting off piles will not be considered complete removal. <br />C. See Exhibit A Section 02 41 00 for approximate location of H-pile limits. Limits are <br />based on best information available provided by the COE. <br />D. See Attachment F for approximate mapped foundation locations of pipes and <br />foundations <br />E. Holes resulting from removal shall be backfilled with suitable materials. <br />1.08 DEMOLITION OF COMBINED SEWER. SANITARY SEWER AND STRUCTURES <br />A. Demolish combined sewer, sanitary sewer, sewer force mains, storm drain and <br />structures in accordance with this section and Section 33 05 04.30. <br />1. Provide bypass pumping of existing sewers and force mains in accordance with <br />Section 33 01 30.50. <br />2. Clean the structure and connecting pipe prior to removal in accordance with Section <br />33 01 30.53.
